A 32x exclusive. We have plugged this game into our 32x more times than we care to admit, hoping against hope that we will find SOMETHING good to say about it. Motocross Championship isn't the absolute WORST game in the 32x library, but it is quite dreadful and comes pretty close to claiming the title "biggest dud." This cross between Road Rash and the NES classic Excitebike is a sorry excuse for a racing game, pure and simple. The graphics are jerky and pixilated, with uneven scaling effects and obvious static backgrounds. The soundtrack and sound effects are incredibly irritating, possibly the worst on the 32x. The control is twitchy, jumpy, and imprecise. You will often find yourself stopped cold in the middle of a pack of opponents, all of whom yell “hey! hey! hey!” over and over again. At least you get to jump really, really high, though you will probably land on something that will bring you to a complete stop. This is the only racing game that we know of that will allow you to go from first place to twelfth place and then back to first place in less than 5 seconds. Try Virtua Racing instead, or any of the Road Rash games, or maybe even Excitebike on the regular Nintendo. If none of those games are available, just go outside and play with some rocks. You'll have more fun.

Many, many years ago, game programmers would display the score and character status on a large portion of the screen, cutting down on the part of the screen where one actually played the game. This was done in order to put less of a burden on the processors, which were quite primitive by today's standards. Motocross Championship brings back this long-lost tradition, filling up a full 1/3 of your screen with useless information! If you decide to play with a friend, you'll find that nearly ½ of the screen is being used to tell you how fast you're going! How quaint!
