Even at their worst, all of the 32x cartridges based on previously released Genesis titles offer improvements over the original games. The animation is often much smoother and more fluid, the colors are always sharper and better defined, the sound is generally cleaner, and the gameplay is often enhanced. Sega, being the respectable (if occasionally mismanaged) company that it is, seemed to feel poorly about releasing rehashed Genesis carts as new 32x games and made a concerted effort to offer gamers something more. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the CD games. The 32x hardware is capable of far more than warmed-up Sega CD full motion video releases like Wirehead, but that's all it got. The Sega CD original is a barely playable "adventure" title sporting branching pathways, a silly plot, and bad acting. Most likely, the 32x "upgrade" would have featured cleaner graphics and nothing else. It's probably a blessing that this dud never made it out the door.
