Are you a fan of the Mortal Kombat games? Love those digitized characters and ridiculous special moves? If so, you're going to love WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game. Basically Mortal Kombat in tights, Wrestlemania includes most of the features you've come to expect from Midway's famed fighting series; digitized characters, one or two player fights, colorful graphics, easy to master "quarter turn" controls, and tons of special moves (no fatalities, though.) Those of you wanting more of a Street Fighter 2 experience had better look elsewhere, as Wrestlemania is pure button mashing arcade action. The game sports many "realistic wrestling moves" including reversals, piledrivers, and bodyslams, plus a host of completely unrealistic moves like skull throwing, inflatable hands and feet, and cross-ring jumps. The character roster includes Bam Bam Bigelow, The Undertaker, and Yokozuna (many of the same characters that appear in the other 32x wrestling game, WWF Raw, and shame on you if you recognize any of these people.) The character graphics are comprised of the digitized images of the actual wrestlers instead of the hand-drawn animations of WWF Raw, lending the game a more realistic look. You won't be amazed by the sound effects or the over enthusiastic commentator, but the soundtrack is fairly standard for this type of game and gets the job done without being overly irritating. One of the better 32x fighting games, WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game is a good choice for combative gamers looking for a quick good time.

WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game was an immensely popular arcade game that appeared on a variety of home consoles. Released in limited quantities and fairly difficult to find, the 32x port is a great improvement over the washed-out looking Genesis game and comes close to the Playstation version in terms of graphics.
