The Fountain of Youth - Part I
If you could see into my mind,
And if you could feel there, you would find,
That everything between you and me,
Is all you'd expect it to be.
As we race through each day,
Letting time slip away, letting time slip away,
And searching for the Fountain of Youth.
Time Again
If I could take all the hours I've wasted,
Just wondering what to do,
And collect them together to use them today,
I'd be spending more time with you.
If I could measure the minutes I've lost,
Feeling lonely and broken in tears,
And exchange them for minutes of love with you,
I could buy us ten more years.
And the sun will rise in its usual way,
But even it hears time when it calls.
So don't close your eyes for a minute my love,
For time will take us all.
If I could find all the time I've squandered away,
Just watching too much T.V.
I could have a life of prime time now,
Reserved for you and me.
If I could take every moment I've waited,
Confused and drinking my wine,
I'd trade them all in for a second chance,
To give us a little more time.
And the sun will rise in its usual way,
But even it hears time when it calls.
So don't close your eyes for a minute my love,
For time will take us all.
Because dying means leaving you,
And leaving you I can't do!
So together, let's find the magic,
And keep searching for the Fountain of Youth!
Pass The Dreams This Way My Dear
Down well traveled slabs of concrete they came,
Leaving their pinnacles of wrought iron behind.
And no one would question where their leader would go.
Like troops off to battle they marched in their rows.
Over mountains and through valleys they trudged through the night,
With visions to help them endure.
Through the heat of the sun, the rain, and the wind,
Their visions had been obscured.
Well they worked and they slaved in the heat and the sweat,
They did everything they thought they should,
And each had a dream, just like all the rest,
To build a new home in the woods.
They were off to...
Chop down trees and stand in the breeze,
Build new homes out of wood and stones,
To uncork their dreams and catch fish from streams,
To grow their own crops and drink rain drops,
To dam up brooks, and get away from the crooks,
To farm in the sun, to play and have fun,
To dig water wells, and raise some hell,
To go for broke, and milk goats,
To hunt for their meals and own nothing of steel,
And raise their families in peace where there aren't any streets.
But time was quick to defeat,
And their dreams became but ashes under their feet.
The Fountain Of Youth - Pt. II
With every river we swim, and beach that we comb,
Every mountain we climb, and each highway we've known,
With each desert we've crawled, and city we've walked,
Each jungle we've seen, and hours we've talked,
With each book that we've read seeking the truth,
We're one step closer to the Fountain of Youth.
Time Spent
Watching sunsets across the water,
Climbing trees and building forts,
Eating ice-cream cones and Cracker-Jacks,
Catching frogs and getting warts.
Peeling chewing-gum wrappers, blowing bubbles,
Daydreaming while clouds float by.
Walking railroad tracks and secret paths,
And always asking "Why?"
Picking berries when in season,
And swimming at the lake,
A monster at the matinee,
And leaves that need the rake.
Today is tomorrow's yesterday,
Never wondered where they went.
Aging was just living life,
And that's how the time was spent.
Secret codes and love letters,
Smuggled during class.
Bicycles soon gave way to cars,
And the rising cost of gas.
Carnations for the senior prom,
Part-time jobs at night,
Choosing favorite candidates,
Occasional bar-room fights.
A career advance and wedding bells,
My how the years did fly,
Time to start it all again,
Is someone asking "Why?"
Today is tomorrow's yesterday,
Ever wonder where they went?
Aging is like losing life,
And that's how the time was spent.
The Fountain Of Youth - Pt. III
I've got a clock that won't stop ticking,
With numbers glowing red.
It laughs about the time it steals,
When I'm lying in my bed.
It makes me feel insignificant,
A helpless victim of time.
Enhances my fears and shortens the years,
And abandons me to crying.
I keep searching for alternatives,
And remembering what they said,
"Time will wait for no man,"
You're bound to wind up dead.
And now, will those words forever haunt me?
And blind me from the truth?
NO! The search must go on as does time,
We must find the Fountain of Youth!
Astral Gate Nine
Come to the place that knows no time.
Travel on through astral gate nine.
Voyage the depths of the darkened unknown.
Distant images, reminders of home.
You can't age once you're inside.
The time is now, come along for the ride.
Youth can be yours when you arrive.
Leave today while you're still alive.
Come to the place that knows no time.
Travel on through astral gate nine.
Never Too Old To Be Young
Hey-ho, how's it feel being old?
All ya got to live for is behind you?
Hey-ho, Are ya sorry ya sold,
The youth that ya had for a good time?
Well, I know a man with a secret,
And he can make you young!
He can give you that chance,
To start it all over again!
Hey-ho, It's not too late ya know,
Would ya like to taste that youth you've been missing?
Hey-ho, Now it's time to go!
Would ya like to make time stand still?
Well, I know a man with a secret,
And he can make you young!
He can give you that chance,
To start it all over again!
He's the keeper of the Fountain,
He has magic over death!
He's voyaged the mysteries in the beyond,
There is youth in his breath!
And I know where to find him!
Yes, I can take you there!
Now, would you like to meet this Magic Man?
Come on...come with me...it's a long way...we'll have to fly...
Take my hand...and close your eyes...
Now here we go....awayyyyyyyy....
Magic Man
We were young, life was long,
And we closed our eyes and then it was gone.
So now we're living in a fantasy, pretending it's reality, Magic Man!
We were taught, to conform,
And we never wondered what it was for?
And now we've sacrificed identity, sold our personalities, Magic Man!
Give us back our youth we lost so long ago.
Where the time has gone I swear we just don't know.
Give us time to help ourselves, we must endure.
We've missed something along the way and that's for sure, Magic Man!
We grew old, we where told,
To be successful we had to fit the mold.
Now we're in need of some psychiatry, on the threshold of insanity, Magic Man.
Time went on, now it's gone.
And we have no idea where we went wrong!
So now we're asking you and begging you,
Tell us what you're gonna do, Magic Man.
Growing older is getting better, welcome the golden years.
It's all the same by any name, as you age have no fear.
No turning back to days gone by, no way to buy some time.
Just make the best of life that's left, youth is a frame of mind,
For the Magic Man!
We were young and life was long,
And we closed our eyes and then it was gone.
Now we're asking you and begging you,
Tell us what you're gonna do, Magic Man!
Magic Man, help us if you can!
And After It All
And so it goes that,
After the screams have stopped,
And the pain is gone,
After the tears have dried,
And after I sing my song,
After the foundations have crumbled,
And the bars are all bent,
After all hope is extinguished,
And all purpose is spent,
After the fires burn out,
And the dust settles down,
After many years go by,
And justice is found,
After all we know is changed,
And our lives are all rearranged,
One cornerstone remains the same,
Time, the crowned player in this game,
From ashes to ashes, that waster of life,
Has left us with no recourse but death.
The Fountain Of Youth - Pt IV
And that is why I cherish,
Every wakened moment with you.
Committing to memory each hour we pass,
Knowing our love is true.
No need to fear the passing of time,
No need to search for the truth,
It's clear now we've had it all along,
In our love is the Fountain of Youth!
