Breaking Free
Trapped between four walls,
And searching for the door,
I really don't care anymore.
Just got to get away, gotta fly.
Gotta make the most of what little there is....
Gotta run!
Boy, you'd better run! You know you'd better run!
Run from what you fear, while you run from what you want!
Invisible Boundaries
Riding down the highway,
Passing picket fences and iron gates,
The boarders of your home.
No "Welcome" mat for me, I travel alone.
Over bridges and past bus stops,
Pass the children in the park,
I'm leaving, leaving it all behind,
To follow that vision in my mind.
Oh-oh, one more hill before it's dark,
And in the morning, take a fresh start.
I think....I think I'll call it a day.
Nature vs. Man
Take yourself, for a moment if you will,
Back to nature and see it through her eyes.
Far from the neon-night skies and contemporary lies,
Away from the cold-shoulder passers-by,
Away from man and all his infinite wisdom,
Away from the melodramatic routine of mere existence.
For here you can feel a twig snap,
And hear the cricket's call.
See the fireflies, nature's advertisement in the sky?
And a rustle in the brush is the only disturbance,
That breaks the silence in the thick of the night.
In hand-crafted Swiss precision,
Everything falls into place.
Nothing is crowded for space.
And up there in the sky,
Un-obscured by the city's artificial glow,
The stars are clear and bright,
Like glittering diamonds on a black velvet spread.
Oh Look! A falling star...I think I'll make a wish.
No-no, that's no star! That's a com-sat.
The keeper of peace and the instigator of destruction.
Oh, even here, is there no escape?
Run For Your Life
As the rising sun cracks open another day,
And the morning dew makes its presence known,
I jump to my feet.
Got places to see and people to meet!
And so, I must be on my way.
Boy, you'd better run! You know you'd better run!
Run from what you fear, while you run from what you want!
Another Mirage
Now I've sailed the distance just to find,
The voices that called my name across the horizon,
Were all in my mind.
But yes, when I laid my armor down,
This is what I expected to find.
So now there is no choice, gotta move on.
Gotta get away, gonna fly!
Gotta make the most of...just gotta run!
Boy, you'd better run! You know you'd better run!
Run from what you fear, while you run from what you want!
Slowly Thinning and Fading
Babe, I'm sitting here in this bar,
Watching to lovers enjoy each other's company.
And it makes me so sad to see,
How happy we could be.
I'm just thinking of you,
Trying to hold back the tears.
But I don't know who you are.
Can't you see the fatigue of searching has worn me thin?
And it was then I met....
April
April, your eyes,
Like two black holes in the skies,
Through which all wisdom in the universe shall pass,
Caught me away from home.
Yes, they caught me all alone,
Once again in that moment undefined,
Where emotions waste no time.
You took me by surprise, caught in the act,
Of being someone I'm not.
And somehow you saw through my impromptu disguise.
My feelings for a moment I forgot.
But now they're here and real,
And it's you that's made me feel,
Warm as a stranger in a lonely town.
How I long to run my fingers through your hair,
And caress your sultry skin.
A love and a privilege I cannot win,
But one that must be earned.
I love it you know,
When my love begins to flow,
Out of my heart and through my pen.
And for a moment like a heartbeat,
All is complete.
The final piece of the puzzle is in place.
But is it here that it will stay?
Or will there be another way?
Tomorrow will answer the questions of today.
If Only
Endless possibilities,
Have led me to expect,
The rejection that I fear.
Ohh-Babe, but when you're near,
The ember of hope smolders on.
Keeping the fire, fed by desire,
Burning deep in the hearth of my heart.
And, if only once,
I could lay me head, my heart, my soul,
To rest in the comfort of your love,
And feel the heat of your body,
Penetrate the chill,
Of my tired and aching limbs,
And find a safe place that I can call home,
Then I'll know,
That my quest is complete.
The searching has ended,
And the day's work is done.
And, if only once I could call you "mine,"
But I'm running out of time!
And that's why...I gotta run!
Boy, you'd better run! You know you'd better run!
Run from what you fear, while you run from what you want!
