Belhaven, Pilsener, 4.8% ABV

The judges are still out on this beer. One thing's for certain, and that's that this beer is a cut above a lot of other pilsners. The mouthfeel is rather dry, although the flavour bears tones of fruity hops, finishing rather "sweaty", like hops that have been left out for too long, although not in a bad way. The head of froth doesn't retain very well, but it remains steady thoughout. A mild, fresh aroma precedes that taste of this straw beer. All in all a refreshing, inoffensive beer with some character.

Belhaven, Fruit Beer, 4.6% ABV

This Scottish fruit beer is one of the best beers to surface recently. It is medium-bodied, with a sweet bouquet of grapes, berries and strawberries (basically a fruit cocktail). Medium-sweet, it tastes like a fruit salad, with suggestions of blackberries and strawberries. It is almost like an exotic cocktail or something. The aftertaste has a candy flavour, hoppy, with currants, red berries and strawberries, giving way to a tingle at the back of the throat. This medium carbonated brew has a foamy head that quickly dissipates. Basically, this beer lives up to its name. Some might say it’s like an alcoholic Ribena. Exotic and gorgeous!

Belhaven, Wheat Beer, 4.8% ABV

What a lovely, complex, wheat beer from Scotland. Some people are put off by wheat beers – a lot of them are cloudy and heavy – but this one is extremely inviting! Its mouthfeel is reminiscent of many things, including bananas, hops, malt and wheat, as well as being a bit musty, slightly sour, and “metallic”. All in all, the wholesome, fruit juicy texture, complements well the wheaty, fruity (orangey), sourish flavour.
