Caledonian, Innis and Gunn, 6.6% ABV

Innis and Gunn seems to have only recently surfaced. This astounding beer is sold in smaller than normal bottles (around 440ml), and is aged for 66 days, as advertised on the bottle. At first, I didn’t realise it was a Caledonian beer, until I did a bit of digging. (I hope I’m right). The taste is overshadowed by scrumptious caramel, as well as oak, malt, nuts and chocolate, with a trace of bitterness. Supplementing the caramel in the long aftertaste are sweet hints of chocolate, and maybe blackcurrants.
Caramel also dominates the aroma, but also toffee and, I believe, tiny hints of vodka. The texture of this beer really warms you up inside, with its wholesome flavours of toffee, oak, sugar and caramel, with traces of coriander. A sweet to medium-sweet brew, medium- to full-bodied, with moderate levels of carbonation, that just manage to give the beer some bitter undertones. An amazing, fantastic dark golden beer!
