Dogfish Head, Raison d'Etre, 8% ABV
Raison d’Etre, I assume, is supposed to mean Reason to Live. Okay, so it’s not exactly a reason to live, but it’s unquestionably a good excuse for a great beer. Full-bodied, dark-golden in colour, with a tart, malty flavour packed with a pleasant fizz, it is preceded by both a sweet and tart aroma containing caramel. The aftertaste is strongly suggestive of cinder toffee, and the mouthfeel is also tart, as well as slightly sharp. A strong, sweet, beer that is bursting with personality.
