Dubuisson, Bush Beer 7%
This special Belgian beer is no where near as strong as its 12abv cousin, but it’s unquestionably tastier, with an assortment of flavours bursting forth. It is a sweet beer, with a candy flavour, containing chocolate. It tastes like a truffle, with berries somewhere in there, too. In the finish, a ginger flavour comes through, along with strawberries and apples. A medium- to full-bodied brew, with a sweet candy texture, and a fresh, fruity bouquet with chocolate. The moderate fizz gives it a thin, though persistent head, with a coating of bubbles. It seems to get better and better each time I have it.
Dubuisson, Bush de Noel, 12% ABV
This Christmas version of the famous Belgian Bush beer has a smooth head with undulating bubbles and fantastic lacing. It is a mysterious dark golden in colour. Bush de Noel is a rich beer with a malty bouquet.
Full-bodied with a sweet taste, it is in the initial flavour of Bush de Noel where you can most sense the very high alcohol content. This strong flavour and malt emerges again in the finish. It is a lightly carbonated beer with a rich mouthfeel. Very rich! The malty, rich texture makes this a beer to die for. Despite the 12% ABV, it's not a difficult beer to drink.
