Spaten, Franziskaner Weissbier Kristallklar, 5% ABV

Kristallklar, among others, is a beer style that abounds in Germany. This style is actually that of wheat beers that have been filterered to remove every last bit of their cloudy aspect, leaving them, well… crystal clear. The advantage of this filtering process is that you can have all the enticing wheaty taste without the "heavyness" of all that wheaty solid matter. Franziskaner's contribution is no exception. In both the flavour and aftertaste wheat dominates. The head of this refreshing straw beer remains steady throughout, but is not amazing. The scent of this beer is a treat, with tones of orange rind, though it is of course only the illusion of orange rinds, as the Reinheitsgebot would never permit such a heresy. All in all this is a fresh dry beer - a pilsner with an attitude.
