Holston, Duckstein, 4.9% ABV

I first discovered this beer on draught in a pub in Aachen, Germany. There, I bought a special Duckstein glass from the barman (which has since sadly broken). From then on, I considered the beer to be quite rare, until it began popping up all over the place in bottle, notably Tesco.

It is a copper-coloured beer, quite easy to go down, with a good to average head of froth. It has a somewhat smoky flavour to it, leading to a maltiness in the finish, preceded by scents of hops. Overall, a refreshing, dry, wholesome beer, obviously far better than the famous Holston Pils.
