J.W. Lees, John Willie's, 5% ABV
John Willie’s is a good, honest English beer. Medium-sweet and medium-bodied, it has the taste of flowers and hops, going on to a hoppy, bitter finish, with hints of malt. That malt just manages to break through into the scent, and it has a texture that is hoppy, but sharp. This copper-coloured beer possesses an undulating head of froth that produces crown-like lacing around the glass. If it wasn’t for the bitterness, this would have been a top-class beer, but it’s lovely and flavoury nevertheless.
