Meantime, Cologne Style Lager Beer, 5% ABV
The naming of this beer is interesting. You see, there is a certain distinct style of beer called Kolsch, which is only available in Cologne, Germany. A lot of bother was kicked up in the last century about the definition of Koln beer, and it was eventually agreed, and made law, that only Koln beers brewed in Cologne could name themselves as such. This is why this Greenwich brewery has had to word it “Cologne Style”.
The pouring of this straw-coloured beer produces thin streaks of lacing around the glass, which soon dissipate. However, the flavour of this brew is amazing, with flowers and oranges dominating, leading to a bitter finish, full of hops. This beer is juicy in the mouth with a hoppy aroma, which also has wheat present. It is brewed exclusively for Sainsbury’s, as are a few other Meantime tasty brews.
