Schelde, Hansje Drinker, 8% ABV
Another full-bodied beer from the Dutch brewery Schelde, Hansje Drinker is a dry beer with a flavour overshadowed by bittery sourness. The aftertaste is pleasurably fruity. The texture of the beer is that of pure alcohol strength – the 8abv really shows through here, as it does in the bouquet. The moderate carbonation gives way to an excellent head – smooth, leaving a consistent frothy film around the glass. All in all, this is a somewhat bitterish beer, but with enough positive characteristics to make it well worthwhile.
Schelde, de Zeenuiper, 5% ABV
Zeenuiper is a medium-golden Dutch beer with a thin, ringed head. It has moderate carbonation, aiding the strong scents of malt and wood to come forth. It has an almond, honey mouth, with woody flavour, finishing with caramel and chocolate. A tasty sweet, full-bodied brew!
