Wadworth's, 6X, 4.3% ABV

6X is a complex English beer if there ever was one! It is a medium to full bodied beer, flowery and malty at the first taste, with a pleasant fizz at the back of the throat, also containing small hints of blackcurrants and spices. The flavour spreads into many other things in the aftertaste – fresh hops, fruit, a bit yeasty, and markedly smooth.

The texture of 6X is also smooth, as well as malty and oh so juicy. Overall a spreading aromatic flavour with floral and fruity hints. The flavours are not reflected by the aroma, which contains a lot of malt, giving off typical ale scents, though also slightly grapey, and caramel scents emerging from the malts. It can sometimes have too much carbonation, but a swift pour resolves this. This is a lovely, medium-sweet to medium-dry beer with a smooth bubbly head. For many, an undiscovered gem.
