Westmalle Tripel, 9.5% ABV
Westmalle Tripel is a genuine Trappist beer, brewed in a monastery in Belgium. It is a powerful beer, with a strength that is all too evident in the flavour. It has a malty taste, with a warming, sharp finish, where the strength of this beer really shows through. Just from the smell of the beer you can sense its potency, though malt just manages to get through there, too. A bubbly head of froth tops this brew, although I don’t think you’d really care what the head was like, after a couple of bottles of this beast. Many other beers have similar alcohol strengths, but this one seems to make no attempt to hide its strength. A great beer – definitely give it a go!
