Worthington's, 1744, 4.4% ABV

Brewed to commemorate the birth year of this brewery, 1744 is a great beer. This medium-sweet brew is full-bodied, with a pleasant fizz in the foretaste, with undercurrents of “bubblyness” remaining throughout. Malt and caramel are present in the flavour, with a smooth aftertaste, reminiscent of oranges. The mouthfeel is smooth, warming, and chocolatey.

It has a medium-smooth head, with some lacing, and a malty, milk-chocolate scent. This beer is also available on draught, especially at Wetherspoon’s pubs (which span the country). It must be said, though, that the draught version is inferior to the bottled beer. Admittedly, more sampling is needed, but it seemed to have a bit of a weak mouthfeel.
