Phase 2 - Revival

                                                                                    -Orgy, Revival

Location : Resist HQ, Meeting room.

6:45 PM.

“So, when do we leave?” Born_2_Respawn asked for  (in Nyles opinion, anyway) the umpteenth billion time. Sighing, and resisting the urge to place a rather large hole in his teammate’s head, he gave the same answer he had given for the past fiftenn minutes.

“When Docsoc tells us the co-ordinates of the warehouse, which I (a) have no idea where it is, (b) have little patience left for you, and (c) wish you would be quiet, like him.” Nyles motioned to the third Suicide squad recruit, Death_wish, who seemed to be inspecting the ceiling in great detail. This obviously wasn’t the reply Born_2_Respawn wanted, because a 34/57 of a second later, he turned back to Nyles.

“Okay, but when can we leave?”

If everything were in the timing, Docsoc would have been God. When he entered the room. Nyles had his Sig half-drawn when he saw the elusive doctor, which was a very good thing for B2R. Deciding he didn’t want to know, he waited for the two men to return to their seats.

“Sorry to keep you gentlemen waiting, but an emergency came up. Mr. Adam’s condition is worsening. Luckily, I remembered a storage facility that the general kept some of his most prized lab subjects. I can’t make any  promises, but he might have some earlier test subjects kept there that have undergone the same treatment. Hopefully, one of them might be able to buy us some time.” Turning on his heels, he started the projector. It showed a fairly inconspicuous-looking building, with no visible security whatsoever. “This facility is located twenty or so miles outside Lockport, Maine. I was unable to detect any forces in the building, but that does not, repeat, not mean it’s unguarded. X is extremely paranoid, so be prepared for anything. Coil and Mat are waiting at the gateway. Gentlemen, good luck and happy hunting.”

Maine

6:42 PM

Alex had no watch on, so when the sun began to set he realized that it might be a good idea to get moving.

Great plan, doofus. Maybe we should’ve moved a bit sooner, eh?

Calm down sergeant. He’s still in shock.

Thanks, Doc, but I’m feeling a bit better. How are you doing, Antebios?

Unit stable.

Sorry, I’m just a bit tense.

No kidding.

I wonder how my squad did.

I’m sure they’re fine.

Yeah. They were trained for that kind of situation.

Can I ask you something, Sergeant?

Sure, why not.

This may sound a bit odd, but how did you, err…

What’s the problem?

Spit it out, Alex.

How did you die?

Never mind. Sorry I asked.

No, I’ll show you.

Alex/Fargo/Deus/Antebios slowly walked down the hallway. The gunshot wound on his/his/his/it’s leg slowed A/F/D/A down a bit, but he/he/he/it knew that he/he/he/it was the squad’s best chance. When they arrived at Black Mesa, A/F/D/A’s team had been ambushed by black ops after stumbling into some sort of office complex. The group was down to twelve, with half the number wounded. A/F/D/A had ordered his/his/his/it’s men to hold up in a room and wait for reinforcements. PFC James Grant had wanted to come, but A/F/D/A had informed him that if he/he/he/it was not back in an hour, to try to get help then. Before the door had even shut, one of the black ops had tried to get a jump on him/him/him/it. Bad idea for the female black op. She managed to get off a single shot before his/his/his/it’s mp5 had nearly decapitated her. A/F/D/A picked up the silenced glock and moved on. Turning a corner, he/he/he/it walked into an open area covered in dead bodies. Human, xeno, race x, it looked like one hell of a firefight. Regardless, he/he/he/it walked on in search of a radio. Hearing a muffled groan behind him, he turned around to see a human arm flailing about under a pile of dead. A/F/D/A ran over to try to help the trapped woman. He/He/He/It realized his mistake as soon as he saw the shotgun pointed at his face. The world went black.

What an awful thing to do.

Ambush.

Geez, you were just trying to help that…

Is that a building up there?

Storage facility, Guard station

9:25 PM.

As far as Gary Sidle was concerned, this base might as well not have fake walls, being as no one even came up this way. Wishing he was home having a beer, he failed to notice the assassin behind him., which was fine with Death_wish. He stabbed the man in the neck hard enough to snap this spine with a sickening crunch. Pushing the body off the chair, he saw movement on one of the cameras. “Coil, someone is about ten yards to your left, over.” He watched as a second shape began to move towards the first. Satisfied, he disabled the camera and turret system and walked over to meet up with Nyles and Born_2_Respawn.

I hear something.

Affirmative. Suggest find a weapon to defend with.

By that time, the shape had come close enough to stun Alex with a taser. Or rather, it tried to. Deus’s reaction was slightly slower then he remembered, but he still managed to kick the shape’s outstretched hand. Alex grabbed the shape, but didn’t see the two guards approaching. Someone did, however, as the closer guard’s upper chest exploded in a red mist. Letting go of the shape, Antebios did what came naturally, that being smashing the poor man’s head to the side so hard that momentum carried his body into a nearby tree. One important thing to note is that human hands are far more fragile than a xeno grunt’s. That being the case, Antebios broke Alex’s hand. “Sonofabitch, pain is bad.” He shouted at himself, while Fargo attempted to reset the bones.

Coil put his gun away, and walked over to the man, who seemed to be trying to do two things at once. He was wearing a stained lab coat, with a (used to be) white shirt, jeans, and a ring around his neck. Not entirely sure what to make of him, he tried diplomacy. “Um, Hello there.” The man turned around to look at him. “My name’s Coil. What are you doing out here so late at night?” The man seemed to try to say a few different things at once, but not quite managing to finish a single word.

                                    *            *            *            *            *

This could be a problem.

Yes. We must decide on a name.

I’m out of ideas.

4 Personas. 4 things. 4 Phases.

I think we have a winner.

                                    *            *            *            *            *

“Coil, come in. this is Nyles, over.” Turning on his mike, he responded.

            “Nyles, this is Coil, over.”

“Sir, this place is a bust. Someone cleaned this place out fast, but we managed to find traces of bio-chem. weapons and radiation. We’re on our way out.”

“Good. I think I found an escapee.”

            “Escapee, sir?”

“Uh, I’ll explain later. Over and out.” Turning back to the man, he waited for his team. Death_wish was the first out, followed by Born _2_ Respawn. Nyles brought up the rear, silently shutting the door behind him. Coil walked over to where his squad was standing, and explained the situation.

“ Okay, I think we should bring him back to Docsoc.“ Coil said. After waiting to see if anyone disagreed, he went back over to the man. “Follow me, please.” He said. Coil was a half step away when the man spoke.

            “Four Phase.”

Coil turned to the man. “Hunh?”

“Our name is Four phase man.”

            “Our?”

                                    *            *            *            *            *

How should we explain something that we don’t know?

Evasive Maneuvers.

But this Coil person seems to be playing it straight with us. Why should we lie to him?

Ulterior motives. We have no idea who this guy is working for, or what he wants.

Hmm. How about you try to explain it, Doctor.

Me?

You’re the medic of this little outfit.

Alex, don’t go there.

Sorry.

Frontal Assault?

No. We’re at a disadvantage. There are four of them and, err, four of us in one body.

(Pause)

I have… no comment.

When the man zoned out again, Coil decided that this was the best time to try to get a hold of Docsoc. “This is Coil. Come in Mat, over”

            “How’s the raid going?”

“Not so well. The general cleaned out his toys already. We’re ready to go, so prep five gates.”

            “Five?  Someone was still inside?”

“Um, not exactly. Can you get Docsoc for me?”

            “Yeah, hold a sec.”

            Buzzzzzz click”

            “Coil?”

“Doc, I found one of X’s experiments wondering outside, but the place was empty.”

“Damn. All right, bring them back right away. Mat needs you back.”

            Buzzzzzz click

“Coil, does he have a tracer on him?”

“Hold on.” Walking over to Four Phase, Coil put a tracer on his shoulder. “Yeah, got him. We’re ready.”

            “3…2…1…”

Five people disappeared into the cool Maine air, leaving three bodies and an empty warehouse behind.
