Please hold your opinions.
Okay, this is about a growing problem I’ve encountered on the
net, and it’s getting real frickin old. Most people (you, me, that creepy guy
who lives down the street, etc.) have watched/played/read something, and
interpreted it a way that might be different then someone else’s, which I have
no problem with, cause it makes for good fan fiction. My problem’s with those
people who think ‘I’m right, and I’m going to make you look stupid and prove
myself right.’ Just recently, I
read a story in which the author was upset at people who did this, but in the next paragraph, acts like God*
himself told him who was right, and wouldn’t you know? It’s the author himself!
Keen! Also, just for the record, I like his story.
Anyway, I sent him an e-mail about it, but have yet to hear
back. And I so want to hear what he has to say, so if you’re reading this, tell
me why. Sorry, going off topic.
I hate dislike people like that, because they take the
fun out of the story. On the flipside, I like people who talk about different
ways they saw it, because it might help me understand the ending, a character,
or a motivation for something that wouldn’t have occurred to me otherwise.
The worst kind are the ones who put down otherwise excellent
works, just because it’s inconsistent with their views. Neon Genesis Evangelion
fans are notorious for this, due to the very open ended (and thus, easily
interpreted differently) ending of End of Evangelion movie. God, if I hear one
more ‘righteous’ fan screaming bloody murder over a story that isn’t exactly as
they see it, I’m going to do something that would get me deported.
Well, that’s my opinion, AND IT WILL BE YOURS SOON, or so I’m
told.
