GymSpastics

I did gymnastics for a while...the training sessions were hell (especially the early mornings), and I hated it enough to quit. But I'm glad I did it, cause I met some cool friends, and learnt some fun stuff.

These are some photos taken at a couple of competitions during 1997/1998/1999...I was 17 at the time, and it feels like 100 years ago.

State Levels Championships, 1997? (Homebush)

Man, how young do we look! This is our team at the State Championships 1997(I think)...from left to right: Jerry, Ian, Luke, Dougie, Me (shit hair), Craig.

Mens National Clubs Championships, 1999 (Newcastle)

Here I am at the start of my parallel bars routine, doing an L-Sit. Shit, how serious do I want to look? I was probably trying to hide the uncomfortable-ness of the uniform (do NOT call it a leotard!)

Here I am in the middle of a double somersault as I dismount from the rings. Man, what a shocking facial! I look possessed! I'm gonna kill that photographer!

Here is our team from the competition: Matt (coach), Ian, Jerry, Craig, Me, Luke, (Senior team, back), Thomas, Chris, Mitchell, Martin (Junior team, front)

Here is a medal we won from the previous year's competition (we missed out on the gold in '99 (sob))

Australian National Levels Championships 1999 (Adelaide)

The NSW Mens squad in Adelaide...man they look happy don't they? They are just so tough...(at least they like to think so...)

Here I am at Nationals '99, in the middle of a giant on Horizontal bar. I was always shithouse on this apparatus...I think it was my second-worst.

My WORST apparatus...Pommel horse. Man, this was such a torture device...I ALWAYS fell during my pommel routines, so you can guess that I never scored very high on this apparatus. Shocking photo too.

Rings...here I am doing a Back-Lever at the start of the routine. Rings also sucked, but not as much as Pommel.

Here is our team (the blue guys) on the platform after the competition.

Here is a gold medal I won on vault at this competition. I also got another gold in the team event, and 3 bronze- for floor, parallel bars, and for placing third overall in the individual all-around competition (god, what a tongue-twister)

Here is one of my favourite pics of the members of my gym club who competed at '99 Nationals...from left: Jerry, Craig, Luke, Me.

Shows 1998, 1999

These pics were taken at the annual gymnastics show event at the State Sports Centre, Homebush. We were always doing some kind of show, it seems, whether in our own gym, or against other gym clubs.

Miscellaneous Gym Pics

Me at training, but having more fun mucking around on the uneven bars.

Presentation day, 1999, and the last day of gymnastics for myself and several others- these shots show all the gymnasts- guys and girls- whom I trained with.

I know this page makes me look like I'm showing off...but I don't care, because I think that it is about time. I've been feeling sorry for myself and my faults and imperfections for a while now, so I feel like I can boast about the good things I've done. And I figure that this page is a good way to go about it, cause no-one visits here anyway.
