| After the decisively effective "Operation Odessa" was launched by the Earth Federation, the Zeon stronghold Odessa in today's Ukraine was seized, badly weakening Zeon power in Europe and Asia. The ill-mannered Rear Admiral Yuri Kerane was left incharge of the evacuation of Odessa's troops, to which he was clearly incapable. Yuri, despite his horrible people skills, actually cares a great deal for his men, and while not the greatest tactician, he hesitates to send soldiers on missions where they might not come back. After sending a trio of Zakus to scout the way to his old friend Ghinius Sakhalin's secret mountain base in Southeast Asia, Yuri and the rest of his men went along as well. Unfortunately, his previous (and obnoxious) visit offended the aristocratic Ghinius, which proved to be Yuri's downfall. Despite all this, Yuri still ahears to the traditional code of honor and continues fighting the losing battle at Odessa until absolutely forced to pull back or suffer casualties. |
