The History of NO_
Here's a little tale that I thought you all might like to here. It's about four simple men, who played together in a game called Fighter Ace. They decided to ban together against their enemies. The first was a real ace…in fact, he was PHENOMinal. The next was a real sweet guy you might say an ANGEL. These two were a terror. But they became disenchanted with their lack of help and set out to recruit new pilots to fly with them in a squad. At first they had NO_ idea what they would call the little squad. Then God spoke to the Angel and the NO_FLYERS SQUADRON was born. The first that they asked to join them was a strange, but likable guy that had flown with them for awhile. He was given to strange desires to HUMP everything in sight. The next was too a strange little fellow. He loved to fly low and fast to BombBases. These men were the for-fathers of the NO_FLYERS. They were killing machines. Watching each other's backs, and taking what they would, when they would. They would run the cowards back to their bases and pound them until they cried UNCLE, who later joined the squad. There were many more that joined this band of merry men. A true Master in flight, was gentle man called STONE COLD, which fit him well in battle, for he was ruthless. Then I remember a MIGHTY and furious WILD DANE, who was given to berserk outburst of rage to which every enemy would fly back to there bases. One cannot forget the teacher, ZAK, for he had a lesson for each of us occasionally. Well I guess I better mention myself in here. I am LittleBomber, the first women in the squad. These were the pilots of the NO_FLYERS in Fighter Ace 1.5 version. Hardship fell upon the squad and some had to leave. Some decision had to be made now. Fighter Ace was expanding and the NO_ was going with it. We called a meeting, elected a Commanding Officer, NO_Phenom, and an XO, NO_Uncle. The ceremony was simple and elegant, with a toast to the fallen NO_FLYERS (they are not forgotten) and a toast to the new command and cheers for the release of Fighter Ace 2.0 version. Squads were forming fast now. This was all together a new game. The squad grew quickly, and training began, and I was promoted to the position of Sgt. at Arms. I was keeping the records anyway, lol. Well again the NO_FLYERS prevailed and went on as the most feared squad. Then Fighter Ace presented yet another version (2.5). This was even better and we lost some pilots due to lack of interest in advancing. But this did not stop us at all. Tactics and maneuvers became more important. There were tanks and trains and factories and many other targets. Better planes needed more practice. The NO_FLYERS SQUADRON was again feared and became the first squad to reach 1 million squad points and our very own CO was of the first to reach that level in pilot points. Most of us became Generals. By now this is three years gone bye and we love each other like family. We had pilots from Canada, Europe and the US. The NO_FLYERS held the #1 standing for points for seven months. Special events - we were there. A challenge - "just bring it". Did I mention we been together three years? We were getting burnt out. So some took leave and some just quit. The rest of us stayed in touch and flew together when we could. While others had computer problems, and some of us became Fighter Ace sysops. Well then this new game is out there ready for beta testing. Something called WWiiOnLine. The investigation starts and looks interesting, so we apply. Two of us were chosen to beta test this game. Oddly enough it was our very own CO and XO. Meanwhile Fighter Ace is buzzing about a version 3 coming out. I was one that was chosen for the beta test for Fighter Ace 3. It is once again time to call up the squad and get a count on who comes to WWiiOL and who stays in Fighter Ace. Another dilemma, we lost most of the squad, well what was left at this point. Evolution is inevitable and the NO_ will go on. Reports were pouring in about WWiiOL and were favorable. The wait for the release was nerve racking, as I had my name on the list to reserve me a copy. Finally a date was announced, June 7, 2001. Planes were being made and checkpoints were marked. Then on that day the NO_ was air-dropped right on target and the 1st NO_PANZER COMPANY was up and running with nine of us.
