Robbie has friends? This must be the wrong page…
Well, here is my collection of miscellanious links that I've accumulated throughout the past little while. If you have any other links that you think would look good on this page, please Email me your suggestions.
Without further adieu:
Friend Links
Jordan Arnot
I met her an NYU, and she has become my 'go to' concert buddy throughout the year. We've seen some great shows, and it just so happens that she's a pretty cool person anyway…check out her site cause she has great music links, and she is pretty awesome. And, jeez, she made that awesome Can/Am/NYU flag on my page…how cool is that!? Don't hate her because she's beautiful.
Gavin Heffernan
Everybody...remember those people that used to like the Beatles before they were cool? Well, go to Gavin's website, and you can be one of the lucky few that knew Gavin before he was a super-mega celeb. He is a brilliant writer, and this page is the site of his first production, an great psychological, teenish, um, I'm at a loss for a description (for the first time ever)…there's a script, and pics, and all sorts of great stuff, so get him while he's hot (um, yeah, that's it)
Matt Jacobs
Known to the general public as 'Matty J', I befriended Matt during the summer of Grade 9 (sorry, 9th Grade), on WestCoast connection and we chilled often. I enlightened him with my rockin' Phish collection (2 CD's) and my Pearl Jam bootlegs, and he had, um, Led Zeppelin. Well, a lot has changed…I have a fairly extensive collection of CD's and stuff, and Matt, well, let's just say he puts me to shame. If introducing me to Mike Errico wasn't enough, he has just the greatest music taste, and it makes me jealous. His page has Errico links, Ben Folds Five links (oh, yeah, did I mention he introduced me to them too?), Guster links, and other funky stuff. Go on with your bad self, Matty.
Ali Wilgus
There's this pesky rumour that NYU students are more talented than, basically everyone in the world. Well, my first example in that thesis is Ali…Featuring incredible artwork that I know I could never in a million years come close to, she blurs the line between fiction and reality with her work. Again, virtually indescribable…From Gargoyles in the fading sun to the cutest caricatures of herself…aww. Have a looksee…
Nate Moss
Um, it's not done, but it made me laugh repeatedly, and I don't know why. He's bizarre, and we sing songs that can't be repeated…ask him, and maybe he'll tell you them.
Matt Manson
Remember that thesis on NYU talent? Well, though the page won't win many awards (though it should), Matt has this great Kids In The Hall meets BritComs meets f**k off comedy writing style. There are a few examples on his site, and hopefully he'll put some more up. And he lives on my ghetto floor. If that doesn't make you visit his site, what will?
Andrew Miller
HA HA HA HA HA HA...That's it
Kim Hare
I don't really know the girl...honestly, I'm afraid that if I didn't publish this link, she'd put something in my food (she's done it before)…her site is cute, though I don't know anyone on it. But it does have this cool song that gets stuck in your head, then stops being cool after the 87th listen…
Band Links
Well, this is no simple feat to do for a mere mortal such as myself, so, for now, I'll list my top five favourite bands and their official websites, and eventually I'll get creative…OKies?
Ben Folds Five - Official Webpage
An awe inspiring band, both live and on record. You either get the joke, or you don't. I suggest you but their self-titled album, and learn fast, cause once you do get the joke, then you'll know what you were missing.
Marc Cohn - Move Real Easy
Yes, he's the guy who sang Walking In Memphis. Yes, he's on Pop Up Video (theme song written by Mike Errico, yay!). Yes, he seemingly faded into obscurity. Well, in that obscurity, he has come out with two new, incredible albums, full of amazing energy, beautiful visuals, and soulful lyrics. A must for the romantic at heart, and great to sit back and relax with…
Mike Errico - Official Webpage
Not too long ago, I had never heard of this man. Thankfully, my dear friend Matty J enlightened me to his music, and I was amazed. Such energy, such sarcasm, such raw talent. Now, I own his CD's, his bootlegs, his merchandise, and I know every nook and cranny of his music. Still, whenever I hear him play Springtime, my mouth drops in amazement, and the end of When She Walks By always sends chills down my spine…
Blurtonia - 'Chart' Interview
Granted, when your favourite band doesn't have a webpage, and the offshoot of that band doesn't have a webpage, there may be a problem. But for Ian Blurton, ex-leader of Canadian indie supergroup Change of Heart, and now frontman of Blurtonia, popularity was never an issue. Cherished by a devoted underground following of other artists, and those annoying people who claim to know about cool music before anyone else ever did (fine, I admit it…), CoH is regarded as one of the greatest influences on modern Canadian indie rock, and modern Canadian rock in general (despite their small following). This article sheds some light on the grandiose of both CoH and Blurtonia. An entertaining read, if only to mock me.
Belle and Sebastian - Jeepster Webpage
Born not too long ago in Glasgow, Belle and Sebastian have risen to tremendous underground popularity. With their sweet arrangements, and saccharine-sweet lyrics, they are likely to turn off 90% of listeners who aren't willing to give them a chance. But give them a chance, and they will remain a fixture in your CD player…and with a new album and single coming out very soon, what better time than now to start listening
