This is one of the few songs I write that turned out like I thought and wanted. Like most of my songs I started witht the chorus, which was very easy to work out. The message of this song is, basically, that I feel the commercialisation of the punk and goth styles has cheapened them as a form of rebellion. Hence the line "Conformative rebellion is fast becoming old". The thing I'm trying to get across is that since rebelling as a teenager is expected, it's no longer rebelling in the real sense of the word. So I've suggested that the new revolution should be being different to the generation previous to ours, not just physically and in fashion, but also in soul and attitudes.

Use it to express your individuality rather than your clothes or music.
And by the way, since writing this song I discovered that "Real Revolution" is a line in a Simply Red song ("Never Never Love"), no infringement is intended Mr. Red! |
