Wacken Black Stage. 3 o' clock in the afternoon.
After the "THE COLD WHITE LIGHT" intro
"KONEVITSAN KIRKONKELLOT"
has been "faded out" in a rather strange
kind of way, the five Finns of Sentenced enter the
stage and start off their show wiith
the "DOWN" song "NOOSE"(and not,
as expected, with "CROSS M YHEART AND HOPE TO
DIE").
There have been quite some changes in the setlist
since last year's Summer Breeze: "AIKA MULTAA
MUISTOT (EVERYTHING
IS NOTHING)" is replaced by "BROKEN" wich
saves the honour of the "THE COLD WHITE
LIGHT" successor "CRIMSON" for
Sentenced let the audience wait for their "smash
hit" "KILLING ME KILLING YOU" in vain
as usual. Also "NO ONE THERE"
mustn't be missing this time; greeted in the most
euphoric way is the awsome "TROOPER" cover
which marks the (early) end
of the show.
Apart from that, pieces of black humour like
"I'll kill myself, I'll blow my brains onto the
wall" or "a cascet would be way too nice,
a see-through plastic bag will do just fine" are
- as always - the slogans for a huge party. For this
morbid humour that makes
Sentenced a live band of genious doesn't stop in
front of Wacken of course. Ville's "jokes"
("So you feel like you wanna go kill
yourself tonight? look at those trees over there,
they all could kill you!") are part of the show,
but unfortunately not always clearly
understandable due too the far from perfect sound
(which is part of festivals, as a matter of fact).
Moreover, several guitars are
almost fully cobverde by bass and drums.
But in spite of the bad sound, you could
leave the Festival Arean with the feeling of having
seen a good gig. And the female part
of the audience shouldn't have been too disturbed by
the bad sound anyway as it didn't affect the big
video screen between the two stages...
CONCLUSION: I'll kill myself! But first
I'll watch the Sentenced gig and have another beer...
