Adventures in Rural North Louisiana!
Whenever we get bored, H and Steven and I usually take a roadtrip to some interesting location or another around Ruston.  One can find all sorts of interesting places when riding around back in the piney woods.  Here I'll chronicle those adventures both in text and with pictures!
The Adventure of the Mysterious Cemetery
One day after just returning from the Quarter Break, the Terrible Trio (Bob, Henry, and Steven) were very bored, so they all piled into the Bobmobile and set off in search of a cemetery that H had happened upon one evening while he was lost.  They headed toward Arcadia, which is a bit southwest of Ruston.  After driving for several hours, they finally pulled off on the side of the road near a little green sign that read "Boddie Cemetery".  It so happened where they pulled off the road there was a dilapidated shack far back from the road.  The place looked as if it had been empty for decades, as the door was off its hinges at a stark angle and vines grew over the rotting wood.  The disturbing thing was the neatly planted and tended rows of flowers outside the shack.  Bob, naturally fearful of such strange things, went back to his car, opened the trunk, and brought forth his trusty sword.  Firmly affixing the leather sheath to his waist, Bob joined H and Steven in exploring the area.  The three snapped pictures of the place before leaving to seek their intended destination: Boddie Cemetary.  A dirt path next to the green sign led back into the woods, however, a tree had fallen exactly across the path.  Taking it as an omen, the three looked cautiously about, Bob drew his sword, and Steven hefted a stout branch.  The three followed the path for about a half mile into the woods.  Along the path, H discovered a mayonnaise jar full of a strange liquid.  Bob and Steven believed the liquid to be blood since it had a red hue to it, but H disagreed.  After a failed attempt to break the jar, H realized that the liquid was, indeed, reddish, and shied away from it as if it had become a snake.  H warned them to scatter like rabbits if they happened to hear four wheelers in the woods, for that sound heralded the coming of hillbillies with guns who would likely annally rape the three of them before killing them with a twelve gauge.  Finally they reached the cemetary, an overgrown patch in the woods surrounded by an old wire fence with a spring-hinged gate.  Surmounting the gate was a sign that read "Boddie Cemetary" in big letters.  Bob, the resident English expert, pointed out that the double consonants following the O would make the O short.  The word would then be pronounced like "body" as in "the human body" instead of the name Body, which has a long O sound.  This, and the fact that he spotted a large hole in the ground near one of the tombstones caused Bob to greatly fear the walking dead.  Yet, the three proceeded to examine the cemetary and take several interesting pictures.  The cemetary seemed to have been used by only one family, as there were few grave markers and only three last names.  The latest death date in the cemetary was 1903, and three of the tombs were those of Confederate soldiers.  The majority of the tombs, though, were those of children who died only months after being born.  The disturbing epitaphs did not nothing to ease fears of the walking dead.  On the way back, Bob stopped to take some pictures of a creek and H walked around a bit.  As he was walking about, the ground gave way beneath H's foot, and his leg became lodged in a small, muddy hole.  Swearing eloquently, H removed his leg from the hole and bemoaned his muddied blue jeans.  Bob found a tree into which large iron spikes had been driven.  Thinking that the spikes were intended to aid in climbing the tree, Bob attempted it, but found that the spikes were too far apart to be used by any normal-sized human for steps.  The three quickly left the place, piled into the Bobmobile, and returned to Ruson as heroes for having braved the Cemetery of the Walking Dead!
