Setlist
We had arranged for Simot ,from the Foo chat & postboard,to come up & stay with us and go with us to the gig,so we picked him up at the bus station on the night of the 13th.
We all got along really well straight away!
Going to the gig was me,Irene,Simon,Ollie,Davie,Johnny,Gordon,Steven….and we all started to meet here at our house mid afternoon.
We had a few drinks here, and introduced Simon to the wonders of Buckfast!
We got on the train at about 4pm and headed into Glasgow.
As arranged ,we met up with Shaz (shazbhat from the chat & postboard) in a pub near to the Barrowlands and had a few more drinks there before leaving to go to the show.
Most of us didn’t bother going up stairs to see the support band,so when it was time,we went upstairs to try & secure a good vantage point for the Foos.
We had a great view, and when at last the band came on,the place erupted!
Strangely, the first song up was Aurora, last time they played here they started with Stacked Actors,so this was a quiet start to the set.But all hell really broke loose when next up was This Is A Call!
We were only about 8 mins into the gig and already the Barrowlands was a sea of sweat !
Learn To Fly,For All The Cows, walking After You followed. Then at last it was the one I had been waiting for!
Stacked Actors…..what a song, and the real icing on the cake was the Taylor & Dave drum duel.My God!That is something to see.I unfortunately never got to see Nirvana play(which I will always regret)so I guess this was as close as I would ever get, seeing Dave beat the living hell out of his kit. This alone was worth going to see.
Next year,I’ll Stick Around,See You,Generator came and went, then ANOTHER real treat followed.
For only the 2nd time in Foo history, they launched into Baker Street.Dave had announced that he couldn’t really remember the words before starting the song,so after the first verse he just made up new words! It was real funny, with references to taking ecstasy & speed littering the song!
As usual,Dave told us how the Barrowlands was his favourite place in the world to play, and it showed. He and the rest of the band seemed to have a really good time playing for such an appreciative audience.
Hey Johnny Park,Monkey Wrench (total madness!),M.I.A (in the middle it went into February Stars, before returning to M.I.A).
And alas, the gig was over .
The encore was Ain’t it The Life & Breakout…..(please note Dave, this is a bad song to finish with,as I was completely knackered at this point, and I thought you were trying to kill me!)
Sadly, the Foos left the stage for the second & final time, and we trudged painfull & sweaty into the cold Glasgow night. We gathered at our arranged meeting point, and Ollie appeared through the crowd with one of Taylor’s drumsticks in his hand! That makes it 2 consecutive shows that Ollie has done that!Quite a feat!
All in all,yet another fantastic show by the Mighty Foo Fighters..only down side was the fat assed bouncer that I had a slight disagreement with…but hey, bouncers are meant to be pricks…so I guess he was just doing his job! He he he
