1: Each person participating may have one character, taken from any fantasy/sci-fi flavoured genre, be they from a series, computer game or book from any time during that setting’s timeline (For example, although Raditz died at the start of the Saiyan Saga in Dragon Ball Z, you may still use him) provided that he or she is not obviously over powerful (Goku at Super Saiyan 4, Gold Saints from Saint Seiya, Superman etc.).
2: Upon choosing your character forward your choice to either James or Michael, who will review your choice. Chances are are that if you follow the guideline given above, you will be in clear. However if we judge that your character has an unfair advantage other the others, we will ask you to select another character.
3: Each character may have ONE item, be it a weapon, a computer, a set of lockpicks etc. This does not include clothing, which will be covered in No. 4. This item must also be submitted with your choice of character.
4: Any sort of protective clothing must also be forwarded (Eg. Armour, shields, force fields) for inspection before your character and item choices are approved. Chances are are that there will be no problems with your character’s natural clothing, but if judged to give an unfair advantage (For example, if someone takes Master Chief from Halo, whose armour contains a ship grade AI that has long range sensors tactical updates and all sorts of things that would give him an edge), the user has the option of using the character without their protective clothing (perhaps with an alternative, eg. Lower grade armour) or selecting another.
5: When your character is sorted then that’s it, there’s no more checks and such needed!
6: When there are sufficient people who have registered (An even number over 8 individuals) the characters will be introduced and organised into two equal groups in character. The groups will be known as Team Yin and Team Yang (Or whatever each team wishes to be known as IC). When deciding who will go in which Team, the moderators will weight the individual abilities of each character and try and create two balanced teams each with a wide range of abilities (So in an ideal world each will have a strong fighter, a good problem solver, a handy Andy and a comical character, or at least something like that).
7: The entire series will be divided into ‘chapters’, the number of which will be determined by the number of participants (So if there are 6 characters there will be 5 chapters, if there are 8 then there will be 7 etc.). Each chapter will not exceed three weeks IRL, and will simulate a single week IC. The series is also split into two phases, ‘Team survival’ and ‘Individual survival’. Team survival is when there are the two teams, and Individual survival is when the remaining participants are clubbed together until there is one left. (More on the phases later)
8: As in Universal Warriors, there is a post limit of three posts per week for everyone. A participant may use the characters of other participants providing they are not made to do anything that might discredit them IC without reasonable cause (So you can’t make another person’s character try and attack another, but you can get them to hold a discussion based on what you know the Character’s player is aiming for with his character, which may be disreputable). The Moderators will handle any complaints handling this issue.
9: Within each Chapter, the characters will be required to survive in a hostile environment, be it danger ridden ( a trap infested labyrinth) or downright hostile (Being stuck in the middle of a civil war). Their objective is to bring their Chapter’s storyline to its conclusion within the Chapter Time frame (Be it fulfilling a quest, getting out of an area alive or else simply getting by). Failure to do so will result in a penalty depending on the phase the game is currently in.
· When it is Team survival any teams that fail to complete their objectives suffer from instant forfeiture from being able to participate in the End of Chapter Challenge (More on that later).
· In Individual survival if the group does not make the deadline no one can be made exempt from elimination by winning the Challenge. However the challenge will still take place, though the reward will only be bragging rights!
When a chapter is concluded, the moderators will write up the Chapter, as well as the Team’s next movements between that Chapter and the next.
10: At the end of each chapter, there will be three challenge questions put forward by the Moderators relating to Anime, History and the arts, that determine who is exempt from being voted out. The questions are defined below.
· Anime: A question relating to a Manga/Anime series past and present. Requires a simple fact or sentence to answer
· History: Possibly the trickiest question of them all. Will relate to any period of our history, and must be put forward as a paragraph of explanation. An example question would be ‘What were the causes of the 1st Gulf War?’ or ‘How, in ancient Japan are Katanas traditionally manufactured?’
· The Arts: This part will vary immensely. It might ask for some song lyrics, a poem, or even a short story based on a single word of the Moderator’s choosing (An example might be ‘Germany’)
The way challenges will work will depend on the phase the series is in.
10a (Team survival Stage):
Providing there are three people in each team, three people from the team can be nominated to each do one of the questions by their teammates, and it will be they that will forward their answer to the moderators. The first CORRECT answer for each wins the team a point. The team with the most points will be declared the winner of that Challenge. If however there are no correct answers for one of the questions and the Challenge is a draw between the teams, the team who are closest to the right answer for that question will get the point. The Moderators Decisions are FINAL! If a team was unable to complete it’s ‘quest’ all of their members are eligible for elimination, though the opposite team must still go through the Challenge process, and anyone who answers but fails their questions can also be voted out.
When a challenge is complete, the winning team’s members are exempt from elimination, (save any members who got their answers wrong) and up to one member from the losing Team who answered a question successfully (There will always be a maximum of one person from the losing team who does this).
10b (Individual survival phase): There will be a single question derived from one of the three formats. Each person must answer the question if they wish to win the challenge. The winner of the challenge will be the first person to answer the question successfully.
11: Before the next Chapter begins, all participants must offer a candidate from those who are eligible to be eliminated as well as a reason (So that the moderators see that there is logic behind the vote rather than voting them out merely by being spiteful. If someone does this their vote will AUTOMATICLY become one for booting themselves out, regardless of immunity). When the votes are in the moderators will announce which character will be leaving their team that Chapter. The moderators will write them off IC in their write up of that Chapter.
12: If a person’s character is eliminated, it is no longer the end necessarily. Upon leaving the ‘main’ section a character may participate in the ‘wandering waiting room’, where they may continue to interact with their fellow characters whilst the survivors continue. There will be Chapters similar to those in the main event that structure their sessions, but it will be up to them to write them up (Or beg the moderators to stay home rather than have a social life, neglect their work and their love lives and do it for them (Hint hint ). Either that, or you can always join Universal Warriors with that character!
13: This Team Versus Team situation and challenges will continue until one Team is down to two members (Thus unable to answer all three questions as a Team). At that point the Team who have survived the longest are declared the winners of the Team survival phase, and the Series moves on to the individual survival phase.
14: When the Series moves to the Individual survival phase, the Moderators will write in the two Team’s merger. Henceforth, the remaining players will continue acting as a group, performing challenges in the manner written above.
15: When there are only two survivors left there will be no challenge. Instead they will participate in a ‘final’ chapter that will bring the events of the past chapters to a boil. They will be competing directly head to head. When the Chapter is over, the rest of the members may vote on whoever they wish would win the Series dependant on their overall abilities at Roleplaying. They must send a short paragraph to the Moderators detailing this.
16: The person with the most votes is crowned the Individual survivor! However, if there is a tie, the participants may nominate one moderator to place a casting vote, providing both of the final two agree on their selection (If they don’t, well we’re stuffed..).
17: Once this is done, the victor gets bragging rights as well as a VERY happy ending for their character, and then we shake it all up and start all over again.
