Is 08th MS Team the last series that will be produced for Gundam? Definitely not! While 08th MS Team is over and done with, there are rumors that Sunrise plans to produce a new Gundam series that will be shown in Late 2002. But more than that, the Gundam Invasion of the U.S. continues even now. Gundam models are widely available here in the U.S. at such stores as Walmart, Target, and Toys'R'Us, and online stores like HobbyLink Japan make rare model shopping easier and economical. Besides the Master Grade models that so many drool over, there is also the new line of High Grade Universal Century models and MS in Action toys to get a modeller in a feeding frenzy. To top it all off, the GP-03S Dendrobium Mobile Armor is now available in plastic kit form, versus the garage kit that it was previously available in. On the animation side of Gundam, G Gundam will be coming to the Cartoon Network later this year, and there are rumors that Char's Counterattack will be shown in U.S. theaters over this summer. Even now, the Cartoon Network maintains its commitment to showing Gundam with its showing of Gundam 0083: Stardust Memories during its Saturday Night Adult Swim. While it is heavily edited, I am of the firm belief that some Gundam is better than no Gundam. Cool thing is, by showing it once a week, Cartoon Network is finally showing the Gundam OVAs in the way they were meant to be seen, not everyday like they showed 08th MS Team and 0080: War in the Pocket. All that aside, these are exciting times to be a Gundam Fan and will prove to be even more exciting as the year goes by.
