These are the all the ideas that Alan jotted down before he actually started writing the lyrics. The idea of Liverpool Street came about after a rather sober Alan endured a train journey (from Liverpool Street of course!) with a load of drunken office workers late one Friday night. Most of what happened in the song is true, including the part about the semi-conscious girl being escorted off the train by a total stranger and him winking at his cheering mates as the train pulls off - scary.
Some of these rough lyrics made it into the finished version... some didn't - like "a hairy man is showing a boy, the annoying rings on his new toy"! Demonstrating once again Alan's mobilephonebia!!
Very close to the finished version, although the Middle 8 has yet to be written.
