It continues to amaze me as I watch the news and see people argue in committees, the Senate, and on TV about the "War on Terrorism." President Bush's war against an unknown villain has taken its toll on America. We're fighting all that may inflict terrorism upon the United States, which -in the Bush Administration's eyes- seems to be anyone not liking the U.S. If we take this stance, anyone not Britain, Canada, or the county sized country of Kuwait is against us. The battle zone in Iraq keeps drudging on as more and more men die (not in war) and more and more resources and money are pumped to a seemingly pointless cause. We've taken on the world, overthrew the government of Afghanistan and Iraq, erased the bill or rights, and spent billions of tax dollars to not catch or kill either of Osama Bin Laden or Saddam Hussein. This taking on the world is starting to loose its meaning which is....can anyone remember?
Going on past two years, we have seemed to forgotten the reason for this modern day Red Scare of looking for terrorists which have existed since the Bolshevik revolution. The reason was four airplanes which were high jacked and sent on the intent of destroying the Pentagon and the World Trade Center (WTC). The WTC was terrorized by Osama Bin Laden years before with his bombing in the parking garage, but no one seemed to use that as a battlecry. A tragedy the WTC was, but how do we milk this to wage war on two nations years after this event? How do we use this event to forget the Bill of Rights? How do we use this to brainwash a nation to persecute anyone who speaks not blind patriotism, and claim them as a traitor in the meantime ignoring that it is their right to do so given by our own foundation of government? How do you link Iraq to a different tyrant whom we had already defeated? How do you invade a country for weapons of mass destruction which were never to be found and justify it by crying, "Remember 9/11!" The Bush Administration has been stretching this issue of the WTC beyond its limits.
Thoughts enter into my mind about the theories of Roosevelt knowing that Pearl Harbor was going to be hit, but did nothing so that it would motivate Americans to go to war. Can't we say that same about this? Many mentioned that 9/11 looked staged from the start and some even have done research to expose a conspiracy. What is it that the Administration is trying to orchestrate? Only oil can tell. - DT
