Young Justice #4 - Start The Commotion

"The Earth says Hello.."

Robin was falling rapidly. Whomever this girl was she'd thrown him for a loop before he could react. It was all he could do to stop thinking about what she had done and to start thinking about what he needed to do, so he could get out of this situation.

Awnings raced by at an alarming rate of speed. He couldn't even count the number of floors he had swooped by. It took everything for him to reach out with his body stretching against the desires of gravity and other rules of physics his slender hand reached out just catching at the window ledge near by. He didn't hang on to it though, hanging onto it at that rate of speed would mean his shoulder would come out of its socket. Instead he used it as leverage to alter his descent. A shift of his body makes him swing to the side another stretch and he had his hands around the ladder of a fire escape. He could feel the roughness of the iron through his gloved hand as he forced his body to flip feeling the strain against it.

Robin gritted his teeth and pushed himself beyond any self-imposed limitations another twist and he wrenched his body to fling himself higher until he could reach the ledge of the building. He placed his hands down on it and vaulted from it to land neatly in front of the girl, "Nice try."

"I knew it couldn't be that easy.. but don't worry I'm ready for it.."

"I'm not worried."

At his last word she came out at him. Her fists and feet moving swiftly. She was amazing he noted. Her moves were great for someone her age.

He didn't hold back each move that she came at him with he had a block or a counter strike. In some ways she reminded him of Batgirl, but without the purity of movement. Her lack of silence though was a benefit because that way he could focus on the differences. Her moves were less okinowan... and more indian lots of long movements with her legs each kick languid and wicked. She'd narrowly missed him a couple times. But he gave as good as he got connecting with force at times. He didn't want to hurt her but he needed to catch her because he needed information.

His fist collided with her stomach, she grimaced and he moved to knock her off her feet with his bo. As she fell her foot connected with his jaw and Robin was sure he felt about three teeth loosen.

He was not going to get his ass kicked on the Roof of Keystone General.

There was a rhythm to fighting. Sometimes it's like a rumba.. but this was definitely far from Latin. it was hard.. it was driving it had a beat that wouldn't stop. Each move went faster and faster.. their steps taking them over and about the rooftop. It became a dance floor. Each action had a counter action and neither was going to back down from the other.

Sometimes she lead. sometimes he did. However the both were moving with the kind of force that comes from knowing the fact their partner is as skilled as they are.

Cassie again came in with windblown hair. She looked like she'd been flying cross continent and then some. Kon's eyes sidled to the girl from where he'd been glaring at Lobo.

"Where've you been..."

Her blue eyes fixed on him and she smirked, "Had to pick up someone..." He then smelled it, "Gross... why are you smelling like cigarettes and and.."

"The cheapest perfume you've ever smelled in your life?"

"Yeah that would be it.."

The girl planted one fist on her hip then gestured behind her with her free hand still smirking up at the clone.

"Oh for the love.. look I've put out my cigarette... I think its only right that y'all should have free nicotine gum.." The woman was tall.. her hair bleached and done up with enough hairspray to weather the flight from Alabama. Her eyes were hidden behind bejeweled eyeglasses but Kon knew enough to know that the eyes were the same shade of blue as her daughter's, "forget it..." The woman who was in her way like a brightly colored parrot who's voice was particularly grating fixed her attention on the other blonde, "Awright.. where is she.. and what the hell took you so long to come get me..."

"I uh had to pick up a security precaution."

"Uh huh..take me to her NOW."

With that Cassie and Mrs. King-Jones, another former Arrowette, moved hurriedly down the hall. The cloud of aroma following the two out of the room.

Kon rubbed at his nose as he tried to forget it. Then he blinked for a second his eyes latching on Lobo, "Hey... you seen Captain Zippy?"

It had seemed like a good idea at the time. Of course it always was a good idea at the time. But even Hindsight wasn't always 20/20 for Bart Allen. Impulse had been running for hours. It was a world wide game of Hide'n'seek and he wasn't about to lose it.

Each step took him across the globe in a net like pattern criss crossing at near light speed. Over river, over dale, across grass and oceans... he shifted his pattern as he moved.. one moment he was in Chicago the next he was in Shang Hai. In Puerto Rico, he found something sucking goats but all he had time for was to put it in a zoo. He found himself in Ohio oddly enough and he'd planned one thing.. to just take a quick peek. It seemed the least likely of the possible areas that Inertia and his little chums could be in. So how else was he going to find it. But trip over it.

One of those giant feet snagged on a tree root and Allen went tumbling in. Over and over he rolled till he landed in a heap at the foot of some rather craggy stairs. "Whoa..." His hands grabbed at his head trying to stop it from whirling.

Huge golden eyes blinked up around him. He realized where he was..mostly cause he was at the feet of a girl with purple hair, that red archer guy, and this other guy who had hair like his grandfather.

"Its hey.. its that."

"Don't just.."

"Sit there.."

"Get him!"

Bart smiled and reached up with one hand giving a little wave, "I gotta get my friends before we can wrassle..laterrrrr." His words hung on the breeze as he was already gone before they could grab him.

Robin ran his hand across his face, checking to make sure everything was in its place. He winced at a developing bruise but he had no more time to worry about that. She was on her feet again.

"C'mon c'mon.. I've got plans other than this...be a dear.."

The Boy Wonder smirked and took up his bo again, oddly enough this was fun. Really fun. Who ever this girl was.. if nothing else she was different from the usual assortment of baddies.

"What clubbin' in Metropolis? I'm thinking you are going to be too unconscious to do much dancing.."

Robin twirled his staff with confidence for just a moment. A moment enough to say, not hurt. Not in pain. Not tired. He was lying.. but he wasn't going to let her know that.

She wasn't hiding her status well, hair clung to her face damply her face was flushed with exertion. Her voice game softly, "I'm going to get done with you.. have time to haul your carcass home, take a shower.. and still have time to dance till way past dawn."

He smirked and lashed out before she could finish her sentence. His bo striking with a serpent's swiftness, each motion there and quick. Multiple blows struck before she could return a single punch. Each move and pulse moved with his heart, he could hear the way it throbbed as he sought to bring this girl down to her knees. Strike at her before she brings him down.

She managed to catch him in the shoulder trying to throw him, but she was clearly weary. He simply planted his feet back a bit and again took her legs out from under her with a single move of his bo.

Angel leaned on her elbow heavily and glared up at Robin, "It's not that easy..."

He smirked as she rose to her feet. "Actually it is exactly that easy.." He moved again pressing to strike her again.

"Awwww Cissie... c'mon baby..." The woman settled next to her daughter reaching over to take a hand in hers. It should be a frail hand that she cradled a hand that would be smooth and young and delicate. Cissie's hands bore a thousand small scars and callouses. No amount of lotion or manicurists would ever take that away from the girl. Still it hung there limply in Bonnie's hand.

"I know you hadn't gone back into being a hero... I know you were just hanging with your friends.. oh baby.. I'm so sorry this happened to you..." Idly without much thought the woman started to massage the fingers she held, much like when her daughter was small. When her hands would hurt from the constant-drawing back of the bowstring. It was won of the few things that Bonnie knew how to do when her daughter hurt. It made her feel better more than anything else.

"Remember when you were tiny.. and Bow would balance you on his knee.." He would make you bounce higher and higher and you would giggle and laugh and I would worry that he might let you fall and you'd break your little arms..hard to recover from a break like that.." The woman raised her hand to her mouth as she looked down at her daughter, chewing idly on a fingernail wishing for not the first time that hospitals had smoking rooms.

"I miss him.. he'd always know what to do at times like this.." Her hand rand through her cropped hair wishing again and again that she wasn't in this position. Even wishing again that she'd been lied to and that Cassie didn't come get her... it was easier she realized in the back of her mind not to know.

"That's your mom isn't it?"

"She seems nice."

"I kinda remember my mom sometimes.. she was warm.. smelled nice.. kind of like cinnamon and coffee. not like ugh.. your mom.."

The little smokey figure hovered above a quietly faded being. Her own image almost misty. Secret again gave a sigh, "I'd bet she'd be really happy if you woke up now... heck I'd be happy.. I mean its rather boring just keeping the things from eating you.."

"OW HEY.. what are you doing you freak!"

"Hey look you gotta burn!"

"I can't believe you did that!"

"Heh.. why not.. wanted to see if you could burn now... sides something about the smell of burning flesh adds to the aroma of a good stogie.."

"WHY YOU PIECE OF..."

"Not Now you two!"

Kon and L'il Lobo paused to stare at the blond girl. Her fists balled up her wrists bound by silver. Her eyes furious.

Kon rubbed at his cheek still glaring at the Czarnian. "What now Cassie.."

"Where's Robin?"

"Here.." A voice slipped out of the shadows lightly, "Hey Cassie.. do me a favor.. tie this up.." "There ya are! Hey guys." Bart skidded to a halt in front of them. His eyes wild and gleaming with excitement. "Found them. lets go.. I remember the way.. uh wait.. no.. it was in a state somewhere.."

"Ohio, Bart."

"Awwww you found out.. well its In Outter Sandusky.. lets go!"

"Not without me."

The aroma of cloyingly sweet perfume filled the air, stale cigarettes were intermingled.

Each head whipped around with a look of shock, "But.. uh Mrs. Jones..." Cassie stammered immediately.

"King-Jones.. Let's go.. I wanna make these little worms crawl. C'mon lets go we have to get there.. and I have to pick something up.."

Cassie finished tying up Angel and she stared at Robin. Her eyes trying to get him to see 'Make her not come... make her not come..'

"But..but..." Kon started to try to argue against this.. of all possibilities. If he couldn't go.. why the hell did Cissie's psycho mom get to go!

Robin ignored it. Plain and simple. He fastened those masked eyes onto the woman looking for what was there. What was driving her to make this decision. What could it be.

THen he simply said, "Fine.. the SuperCycle's on its way.. everybody to the roof.."

Next Issue: Its Payback time. They know what whole they crawled into but what the hell is Cissie's mom thinkin' who the hell knows... Cause ready or Not.. Here Comes Momma!
