Petals
The veins dance along the surface but no one is perceived
As you walk along it’s home, along the stone have you grieved?
The movement in the air, ephemeral, evanescent, what was once.. vanished
The eyes of your children, once were yours but your visions have banished
Run along the river of time, run till you slip and fall
Can you remember? Can you embrace? What do you see behind you conscience wall?
They float, storm upon you, you danced, but now you have run away
Notice the sparkle, notice the star in the evening, as it rises to day
Run your fingertips on the surface of your dreams
Soak in them, till you have immersed the fairy dust and the sweet honey and cream
Cherish, until the heart in you has withered and tried to carry no more
Live in the young heart inside, the one that never stops and gets sore
Notice that all things free have the cost
Of attention to precious, sentiment tiny things, who’s love gets lost
As I run my fingers along those veins and I wish for you to settle
Settle in the wind of home, breathe the air, with me stroke the petals
