(Grayscale)Where
were you born?
(Royal
- T)I
was actually born in Thunder Bay but moved to St John's, Newfoundland
before my first birthday and lived there till i was 16 then
moved to Vancouver Island for a while and I somehow eneded
up in Thunder Bay again recently haha
(GS)Crazy
stuff, how did you get started writing lyrics and getting
into the rap scene, i mean, it was the island.. hah...
(RT)Actually
when I was like 14 in Newfoundland after listening to mostly
rap for years and rapping other peoples lyrics I decided to
start making my own and I'd go out and buy instrumental albums
and just freestyle and write over other people's beats and
such
(GS)Ah,
did it change alot for you when you came to the island then?
there isnt a big scene here, and its hard to be different
here...

(RT)Not
really cause I never really got into performing when I was
that age anyways I was sorta just a bedroom mc at the time
so it pretty much didn't change.... but as I started getting
older I expanded the amount of shit I listened to and got
way more influenced to keep improving and sound as good as
the shit i was digging at the time
(GS)Would
you say rolling influenced your writing at all?
(RT)Indirectly
i suppose it did a bit because as I got more into it and started
buying vids and shit I kept hearing hiphop I'd never heard
before in the vids that I really liked which lead to me going
out and getting my hands on different stuff that I was feeling
that I otherwise wouldn't of heard of till years later I'm
sure.
(GS)yeah,
rolling brought me a whole new level of music to listen to,
its insane, all the stuff Rj listened to back when i was a little
grommit was the same stuff you were listening to, its strange
how it all ties together. Which kind of reminds me of this one
time we were skating Sanns gaps and you busted your knees up
trying some mondo grass gap....hows your skating now? i heard
its stretched pretty thin.
(RT)Haha,
yeah I don't skate much anymore, proly 5 times the entire
year, there's lots of dope shit to skate here but I have very
little time to actually skate, I'm always putting in work
on something so I'm usually pretty busy and when I'm not it's
either minus 30 and ice everywhere or I just don't feel like
it because I'm the only dude here who skates and shit gets
kinda boring by yourself, at most I'll hit up the park and
session the mini ramps for an hour so

(GS)Thats
cool...skating even the smallest bit is rad.... I heard your
doing a cd with madd psyense? whats that all about?
(RT)Nah
man not at all hahahahaha. Well he's featured on my new album
on one track and we're part of the same group, Muthatrukaz,
but aside from that we're not working on any special collaborative
effort. Our group is releasing shit next year though so I
guess technically we're doing an album together but it'll
proly be a vinyl release, so no cd.
(GS)Ah
ok, thats good that i know that now.. and obviously you guys
are illin, is there anywhere people on the net can hear your
music?
(RT)http://www.soundclick.com/bands/1/thunderbaymusic.htm
has quite a bit of shit up there..... tracks from quite a
few of the muthatrukaz.

(GS)And

(RT)Yeah
8-11 eastern standard time so 5-8 BC time every saturday....Myself
and DJ Arc, top rated show on the station and I'm not gonna lie
but it's proly the best radio show you'll ever hear. 3 hours of
amazing hiphop from all eras and all so called subgenres as well
as hella freestyling, special guests, phone calls, antics and genral
dopeness haha.
(GS)Funny
shit, I love that radio show. I hope to hear all your new shit on
a cd soon and good luck to you and the rest of muthatruckas in the
new year. Any last words?
(RT)Yes
