The specter of Carrion has long loomed over the head of Spider-Man, a virus infecting innocents and resulting in death. A short while after the Jackal, Peter's one-time science professor, had cloned Spider-Man and his late girlfriend Gwen Stacy, a gaunt creature named Carrion emerged into Spidey's life. Equipped with a dust that inflicted death upon contact with living creatures, Carrion went about his business in defeating Spider-Man, for it was learned that Carrion was in fact a defective clone of Warren himself. The original Carrion died, a victim of a "Spider-Amoeba" of his own creation.
Years later, at the Empire State University campus where Warren was a teacher, a student named Malcolm McBride accidentally happened upon one of Warren's dormant devices and was transformed into a second Carrion. For years McBride remained Carrion, claiming that the original Carrion was actually a victim of Warren's devices as well, and forming a partnership with the murderous Carnage resulting in a murderous spree through New York. McBride was taken to the Ravencroft Institute following that and was eventually cured of the Carrion virus by his formed ally Shriek, who chose to nurture the virus as a child.
That Carrion virus was ultimately taken away by Miles Warren, the Jackal, who had survived his apparent demise. Warren revealed it was a clone that had died years before and came close to releasing the virus stopped at the last minute by Spider-Man and his thought-he-was-dead-but-he-was-just-really-hurt clone Ben Reilly. Warren's corpse was taken by SHIELD for further testing, and came under the supervision of Dr. William Allen, who, during a botched experiment, became a Carrion himself. Having a telepathic bond to Warren, Allen explained that the original Carrion was indeed a clone and came close to fulfilling Warren's plans, stopped only by Spidey, the High Evolutionary and the Tinkerer of all people. Allen was taken in by SHIELD to remove the virus and has not shown up since.
Powers and Abilities: Carrion has super-human strength, levitation abilities and a magic "red dust" that can place people under his control, knock them unconscious or kill them upon impact.
