Spectacular Spider-Man #99 (December 1984)
Milgrom Trimpe Mooney

Spec #99 the plot: As Dr. Johnathon Ohnn tries to adapt to and further understand his newly gained spot powers, Spider-Man arrives back at his apartment after having learned that his lover, the Black Cat recieved her luck powers from the Kingpin. Trying to get his mind back on track he heads out to the Daily Bugle, but he runs into, literally, his new neighbors Randi, Candi and Bambi, and then Sha Shan, the girlfriend of Flash Thompson. Sha Shan and Peter leave together and discuss her frustration over her relationship with Flash and their growing rift. Flash, however, happens to be driving by and incorrectly assumes that Peter and Sha are involved. The drama continues at the Daily Bugle, when Peter, set to meet with Robbie Robertson, runs into Betty Brant who's quick to tell Peter that there's nothing between her and Flash, though Peter recalls how Betty once flirted with him when her husband Ned was out of town, as he is now. Peter finally meets with Robbie who reminds Peter of his duties as a freelance photographer and then apologizes for his outbursts of late. The two part on good terms.

Putting on his Spidey suit, Peter heads off to visit the Black Cat who surprises him with a recreation of his alien costume, made of fabric, which initally gives him a bit of a shock. They then set out for a bit of crime fighting, though Spidey's old webshooters don't work quite as well and when he does manage a solid websling, the building he's attached to falls apart. Meanwhile, at the Kingpin's headquarters, the Kingpin surveys the damage from the reborn Silvermane's recent rampage, and Johnathon Ohnn prepares to test his powers. Another mysterious foe lurks in the shadows, as Spider-Man's discarded alien symbiotic costume bonds to a New York traveller and swings off into the night.

As Spider-Man and the Black Cat continue their heroic pursuits, Ohnn catches up with them and announces his arrival as...The Spot! Spider-Man breaks down in laughter, and despite the obvious ridiculousness of Ohnn's new alter ego, he manages to get away from Spider-Man and escape. But all is not right with Spider-Man though, as new problems between the Black Cat and Spider-Man have been laid that lead them both in opposite directions, Spider-Man wishing to go off on his own way and the Black Cat sharing similar sentiments.
