Amazing Spider-Man #208 (July 1980)
Denny O'Neal, John Romita jr., Allen Milgrom and Brett Breeding

Amazing #208 the plot: As Spider-Man heads over the Daily Globe (at this time Peter quit the Bugle), twin brother's Hubert and Pinky Fusser toil away at a research lab, though for very different reasons; Hubert is a research scientist, and Pinky the janitor. Hubert remains hard at work on a large machine he hopes will unlock the secrets of the universe, while his doting brother looks on concerned, telling his brother to be careful not to get hurt. Pinky's words are ignored and a few moments later an accident occurs and Hubert is bombarded with rays from the machine. Trying to pull his brother out, Pinky makes contact with Hubert and they begin to merge, into a new being all together.

Meanwhile at the Daily Globe, Peter is introduced to the new circulation manager Rupert Dockery and a new staff photographer Lance Bannon, though a short time later Peter muses to himself how smarmy and snotty his new co-workers are. Heading over to the hospital with his Aunt May to see her dear friend Anna Watson, Peter learns that they just missed Anna's neice Mary Jane, though Peter doesn't mind that since just a few weeks earlier Mary Jane turned down his marriage proposal. Suddenly though, Peter's spider sense goes off and he hurries off, quickly donning his Spider-Suit in a closet, and sees that the Fusser brothers, now merged are rampaging through the hospital.

Spider-Man tries to stop the Fusser's from their damage causing pursuits, but they escape into the subway and manage to separate. Pinky wants no part in Hubert's plans to gain power though and he begins to leave, until the strain from separating begins and he's forced to reform with Hubert again.

Quickly returning to Anna Watson's hospital room to leave with Aunt May, Spidey resumes his search for the Fusser twins, eventually finding them on the George Washington Bridge. After a brief skirmish, Spidey tries invain to pull the twins apart though it is with Pinky's help that the Fusser twins are defeated, pulled apart into their old selves. Spidey apologizes for which ever Fusser was helping him when he knocks them out to defeat them, and though he muses about how they may not be able to find help for their condition, he hopes to find out what this was all about.
