Amazing Spider-Man '97 Annual (July 1997)
Stern Lyle Jones

Amazing Annual 97 the plot: David Lowell, the man once known as Sundown, is released from prison and set on going straight. After a short encounter with his one time foe Spider-Man, Lowell tries to get his life in order while SPidey recounts his battle with Sundown from years before. Lowell, stuck in a dead end job given his status as an ex-con, is approached by a man he met in prison, gangster "Lucky" Lobo, who wants Lowell to work for him, and has Lowell's one true friend Mary Kelleher being watched by snipers to ensure that Lowell follows orders.

As David is forced to put on a new suit to become Sundown once more, his origins are retold, how as a chemist at Osborn Chemical he concocted a serum that in a struggle he accidently ingested. Disoriented Lowell fell into some solar lamps that granted him the powers to become Sundown. Now fully reborn as Sundown, Lowell sets out after Spidey, who has learned the reasons for Lowell becoming Sundown again. Pretending to be unconcious, Spidey is taken by Sundown to Lobo, where he reawakens and takes down the crimeboss. Looking down from the rooftops as Lobo is taken into police custody, Sundown tells Spidey of his wishes for a new life where he can brush up on his science and he leaves, but as Sundown vanishes, Spidey tells himself that he thinks he hasn't seen the last of Sundown.
