the plot:
In an alternate reality, Flash Thompson is bitten by the radioactive spider and becomes Spider-Man instead of Peter Parker. Getting Peter to innocently make him a costume and webshooters, Flash uses his powers for criminal pursuits, causing Peter to enlist the aid of Dr. Otto Octavius to design mechanical spider-like arms to take down Flash. Peter becomes a Spider-Man in his own right, and a real hero.
