Peter Parker: Spider-Man v.2 #41 (March 2001)
Jenkins Buckingham Faucher

Peter Parker #41 Peter Parker: Spider-Man #39 synopsis
Peter Parker: Spider-Man #40 synopsis

the plot: Forget about what went on in the last two issues. All you need to know is Ock nearly murdered fellow villain Fusion, and is planning on selling a satellite to terrorists for 30 million dollars. D'ya think Spidey will have something to say about this? You bet.

Featuring cameos by Matt Murdock and Nick Fury.

the review: So, after a confusing second part, this chapter of the "Operation:..." arc featuring Dr. Octopus was almost a little too simple (it's too complicated I complain, it's too simple I complain. I pity Paul Jenkins for having to put up with this.) I would have rathered a greater inclusion of the events of last month, such as the mechanical arm bit, and Bradley Miles, but that's gone in favor of a good old fashioned Spidey/Ock showdown. The fight is decent, and well done by Mark Buckingham and Wayne Faucher (even if I do think their rendition of Ock looks ridiculous). While not Earth shattering, this storyline wasn't too bad, and should read well as a tradepaper back somewhere down the line.

I only wish that Carolyn Trainer, the female Dr. Octopus had appeared, but you can't get everything I suppose.

Peter Parker: Spider-Man #41 gets **1/2 out of *****, while the "Operation:..." arc as a whole gets *** out of *****, since I'm in a good mood.
