Amazing Spider-Man #40 v.2 (April 2002)
Straczynski Romita jr. Hanna

Amazing #40 the plot: After Aunt May cancels her subscription to the Daily Bugle (featuring a scene with J. Jonah Jameson. That's right, Jameson. In Amazing Spider-Man.) she gets a call from Mary Jane, saying she'll be in New York for a little while, and she'd like to see Peter again. Peter, however, has his hands full of problems, including his Midtown High science student Jennifer, and a kidnapper, who uses bizarre teleporting powers to kidnap the homeless and drug users.

the review: While it's becoming more apparent that the whole "Jennifer" storyline may be part of the inevitable trade paperback arc package, it's still an interesting story.

The appearences by Mary Jane and J. Jonah Jameson were much appreciated, and almost made up for the weak, nameless villain, who will hopefully be given more time to be built up as a threat, before we're all force-fed information about how strong he is (I'm looking at you, Morlun.)

Amazing Spider-Man #40 was a decent book, but I'm still not as enthusiastic about this title as I wish I were. **1/2 out of *****.
