Stunner
First Appearance: Amazing Spider-Man #397

The beautiful consort of Dr. Otto Octavius, Angelica Brancale, the woman also known as Stunner, was once a shy girl, teased for her weight and seemingly destined to live a lonely, empty life. All that changed when she was approached by Octavius, better known as the criminal mastermind Dr. Octopus, who offered Angelica the chance to become something more. In his employ as a secretary, Angelica was selected to take part in an experimental virtual reality program, an experiment set up to create a virtual duplicate of Octavius for future use. Originally nothing more than a guinea-pig, Angelica's new form of Stunner proved stable, and she and Dr. Octopus formed an odd, loving relationship; Stunner totally enamored in this man who had given her life purpose, and Octavius drawn to this incredibly beautiful, yet unreal woman. Stunner worked alongside Dr. Octopus while his protege Caroline Trainer worked out the bugs in his virtual duplicate, but Angelica's bliss was short-lived when Octavius was brutally murdered by Kaine, a renegade clone of Spider-Man.

Following Dr. Octopus' death, Angelica remained in action as Stunner for a time, until Caroline, who had assumed the mantle of Dr. Octopus, was severly defeated against the Scarlet Spider. Her beloved Otto dead, and Caroline missing in action, Angelica returned to her simple, old, mundane life. Angelica got an unexpected visit from Caroline though a short time later, when news broke that Octavius' body had been removed from his grave, and upon investigation it was discovered that would-be crime boss the Rose, had plans to bring back Dr. Octopus from the dead. Both wanting Otto Octavius back in their lives, Angelica and Caroline went along with the Rose's insane plan, and captured Spider-Man to use as a sacrifice to bring Otto back. Breaking free and getting away, Spider-Man tried to put a stop to the ceremony, but it was too late to end it, though a sacrifice would be needed to bring Octavius back. Angelica offered herself as that sacrifice, and Dr. Octopus was reborn. Her form of Stunner melted and destroyed, Angelica suffered massive brain damage as a result of the ceremony, but did not die. Informed by Caroline of what happened, Octavius moved Angelica's comatose body to his undersea headquarters, where she presumably remains to this day. Despite his initial feelings towards Angelica, and later fondness to her unreal alter-ego, Octavius appears to be sincerely drawn to Angelica, and genuinely moved by her sacrifice.

Lately Dr. Octopus has shown up, coming into contact with Spider-Man, the Sinister Six and his former lab assistant Christine Carr, but the current status of Stunner has been unrevealed.

Powers and Abilities: When in the virtual identity of Stunner, Angelica Brancale has super-human strength and abilties beyond those of average humans. As normal Angelica Brancale, she has the abilties of an average person of greater carriage, though Angelica's weight appears to be genetic more than a case of overeating.
