A powerful multi-national corporation, using its front as a financial institution and law firm to conseal it's dark inner workings. Housed in the Aleister building in New York city, the Technomancers are in fact a cult, devoted to understanding the true nature of magics through experimentation and spell casting, and aquiring great power. They first came to the attention of Spider-Man when a member by the name of Master Om arrived at the headquarters with the Sphere of Sara=Kath, which when used correctly would grant the Technomancers great power. However soon after Om's arrival, his comtemporary Maegis Gunther Senreich accidently had left interdimensional portal technology he had been studying active, and soon dark creatures began to emerge from it. Neomancers, lower level footsoldiers withn the Techonmancers were being transformed into gremlin-like demons, and soon a creature named Buel, a dark plasmage appeared. It was about this point that Spider-Man, during a routine patrol. began sensing something from the Aleister building and he went to investigate. Luckily for Spidey, Dr. Strange sensed the disturbance as well, and they went together to check things out, as well as procure the Sphere back from the Technomancers, for fear of it falling in the wrong hands.
Meanwhile Buels rampage continued, and the Technomancers were driven into chaos, until Spider-Man and Dr. Strange, who remained outside but accompanied Spider-Man in his astral-form, arrived. Buel took Spidey for a wizard and attacked accordingly, but was stopped with surprising ease by Spider-Man. However when Buel learned of Strange's presense, he sent a demon to attack Strange on the outside. Dr. Strange was able to stop the demon, and together he and Spider-Man launched an all-out assault on Buel, that ended when Spider-Man threw the Sphere into Buel's portal, destroying their foe. The Technomancers were left in shambles, but they remained active nonetheless.
The Technomancers remained in the shadows, until a short time later when they were approached by Norman Osborn, who wished to aquire a mystical shard from the Technomancers to perform a power-enhancing ritual. The Technomancers refused to hand over the shard, nor to take part in the "gathering" ceremony. Osborn then dispatched his associate Override to get it, and in the resulting kirmish, Spider-Man was forced to save Override and a swarm of Neomancers from a creature that had been released from the menagerie. Spider-Man stopped the beast, but Override got away with the shard, and eventually Osborn performed the ceremony to mixed success, losing his sanity for a brief period following it. The Technomancers have not been seen since, but likely continue their work in the shadows, and are sure to reappear at some point in the future.
Powers and Abilities: The Technomancers are incredibly powerful spell casters, and dark magicians, using their wealth and law practice as a front for their true selves.
