Even before his transformation into the deadly Goblin, Norman Osborn was still a threat to be reckoned with. A ruthless industrialist, Osborn was the acting head of his own company, Osborn Industries, until a tour group from the high school of Norman's son Harry went through and Harry's friend Peter Parker was bitten by an experimental spider, tested upon with the new "Oz" drug. As Norman observed, young Parker began to develop spider like powers and strength, and wishing to gain such power as well, Norman subjected himself to the same tests, overseen by chief scientist Otto Octavius. The experiment was a failure, resulting in the deaths of many Osborn Industries scientists, save Octavius, and the dissapearence of Osborn.
Harry, dispondant following the seeming death of his father, was stunned when a goblin-like creature attacked his house, murdering his mother and attempting to kill him. Harry barely escaped with his life, but was stunned when the goblin creature followed him to his school and it was only through the intervention of Parker, who had donned the garb of Spider-Man now, that Harry escaped with his life. Spider-Man fought the goblin, until the police arrived and shot down the Goblin. Osborn's body was washed into the East River, where it is unknown what became of him. After defeating the Goblin, Peter learned from Harry that the Goblin in in fact Norman.
Harry went off to live with relatives, while Norman secretly plotted his return, having survived his apparent demise. Now able to control his Goblin form, Norman struck against Peter, threatening him and his loved ones. It took the intervention of SHIELD, a global peacekeeping task force with ties to Oscorp Industries, to aid in bringing down a feral Goblin.
The Goblin's fate remains inconclusive, though Harry remain trumatized by the experience, and by brainwashing that Norman inflicted upon him via a Professor Miles Warren.
Powers and Abilities: As the Goblin, Norman Osborn has super strength, seeming flight abilities and can create bursts of energy from his hands. As Norman Osborn, he relies on his industrial power and keen mind.
