- Fat Pauly’s,
Newcastle
Supporting BLOWBACK
First
show the band had played in ages. Also the first show with new
trombone player Tom Maund. Quite a few people turned up and
the atmosphere was cool. The gig went quite smoothly. Sadly,
the stage was real small and hard for the band to do their
usual “thing”. But on the plus side, it was pretty tight
and 60 quid was made.

Headlining with support from FIRECHILD
Pretty
cool show in everyone’s opinion. The place was pretty full,
the sound-system was top class, the stage was big
and everyone went pretty crazy. Also, the support band
FIRECHILD who were playing their first gig played well. SOU
played some new material as well as the oldies and had a good
laugh. They were asked to play on a more regular basis at the
pub and made 100 quid.

- The Sugarmill,
Hanley
Voices, Size 5, SOU and Senseless
Biggest
venue in Hanley which has hosted bands such as Muse, Reel Big
Fish, My Vitriol. SOU were given the second headline slot. The
first band on were a signed Foo Fighters style band (Voices).
They were a bit pissy since they were signed and on 1st
but they were pretty cool. They were tight as hell and got a
good response. 2nd on were a 3 piece punk band
about the same age as SOU (Size 5). One song drifted into
another and got a bit annoying. Next on were SOU. After fixing
the saxophone, they kicked off with their OI song (Gotta get
out) and had most people dancing by their cover of “Drinking
and Driving”. About half way through, Beard (drums) put the
bass drum pedal through the bass drum of SENSELESS’ kit.
After that was finally fixed, they carried on and finished
with the tradition of getting people on stage to help sing
their last song. 50 quid made.

Supporting RED LIGHTS FLASH
This
was SOU’s last show before a break to write some tunes. The
band played mainly as it was a chance to support RED LIGHTS
FLASH from Austria. They are also signed to HOUSEHOLD NAME
RECORDS of London which is also the label of CAPDOWN,
LIGHTYEAR, 5 KNUCKLE and produced for BIG D AND THE KID’S
TABLE. The venue was filled mostly with friends of SOU and so
it was a cool, relaxed show. It wasn’t anything at all
special from there point of view, but nothing to moan about.
The headliners from Austria played a cool set. They were all
cool guys and are currently on tour with CAPDOWN. There CD is
emo style punk and available on HOUSEHOLD NAME. We played this
one for free.
