If
someone asked me what SOU sounded like, I would not have an
easy job describing. They’re a mixture of ska-core, punk and
2 tone. It sounds like an odd combination for a band but
believe me it works. You could compare them to the likes of
Dog Eat Dog, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Link 80, Slapstick but on the
other hand you could compare them to The Specials and
Operation Ivy. The band like the fact that you can’t class
them as anything in particular. Just good. They don’t really
intend to sound
like anything when they write their songs. They
obviously put in all their influences and mess them around
with the other members taste of music. If someone has an idea,
they’ll argue it a bit and jam around. Other members try to
help others explain what they’re trying to say and the
results are a confusing mix until its eventually sorted out.
It usually works out that the rhythm section write their part
together and then the horns do their own thing. They’ll play
until they’re happy and then Joe will listen and write down
whatever he feels like writing down, shows it to Dec and they
start. Hopefully
soon have some SOU sound files for you listening pleasure
