I just finished watching and listening to some Michael Moore things and I have mixed emotions. I for one don't like American policy about 90% of the time. Yet at the same time even assuming Michael Moore's views are good and I like them I dislike being swayed until I've given a good amount of time and think I am concurring rather than mimicing. I'm reaching that point pretty quickly but the speed scares me so I'm absorbing it purposefully slowly to soothe my conscience. But Michael Moore was eye opening for me. I felt stupid all during and afterwards because I never realized the amount of propaganda American media produces. Talks of propaganda in the media used to just conjure up images of overly reactive anarchist wanna-bes. But it's all very real. American media is fucked and it's never getting better. This is all sad shit to me.
Have you ever questioned our reasons for being in Iraq? Ever thought naively maybe we're wrong? Maybe isn't the beginning. I used to blindly support the war to a degree. I've always disagreed with the "bush man", sarcastic emphasis on both words, but I figured, in my ignorance, hmm this Saddam guy seems threatening. All while watching CNN. Jesus my stupidity. The insanity is hard to shuffle through but I'll try to start somewhere. Mind you that this information is all second-hand from Mr. Moore's recordings and are to his credit and I assume provable through his research. First of all the bullshit with Afghanistan starts waaaaay back. Here is a dandy report thats explains some early dealings between the Taliban and Bushey Jr.'s friend Cheney. All in all, the old man was trying to get rich, like he isn't rich enough, and was willing to bargain and pay these "terrorist harborers" plenty of money to help himself out. Disgusting. In another case the bin Ladden family themselves actually helped support young Georgey Dubba-yas first oil venture. Then there's the Saudi jet story... After September 11th there were 3 days with no planes in the air. Except one, a Saudi Arabian jet went to 5 U.S. cities and picked up members of terrorist related families. The government allowed this beforehand... hmm a repayed favor from Bushey? and 15 of 19(I believe) of the hijackers were from Saudi Arabia, why aren't we attacking them? Because they supply us with oil, we would never so long as they are compliant.
This country is being run by rich greedy bastards plain and simple. If you think that by voting Democrat or Republican you're helping make a difference then you are still blind. They are the same, they are the exact same old rich white men that will perpetuate the cycle of the rich getting richer and the poor staying poor. have you ever seen the sarcastic comedy on the daily show or SNL? It's true! It's a comic matter because people don't see the potential to change, or they see only the futility in trying.
I for one say Green Party, but vote however you like, it's your "freedom". I want wage limits. How many people think that they need over $150,000 individual salary to live? You're insane if you do. Do you know how much these politicians make? Do you know the tax breaks they get? Or the tax breaks they give to companies? Many of which they are a part of or affiliated with. It's all a load of bullshit. I urge people to at least read of the Green Party, Ralph Nader, or Jello Biafra. I urge you all to listen or read anything by Michael Moore. Go read the book 1984 by Orwell, or if you're not the reading type(you should be if you've followed my page this far) then go see a movie version. The reality of 1984 at first seemed impossible to me when I first read it this year about 6 months ago. But it is not! If everybody continues to live in this psuedo-democracy and believes that by voting for the next democrat they are going to change for the better they are wrong. As long as this bi-partisan trash is kept stuffed in our mouths we will continue to fall into the hole of dissovled civil liberties and lose of freedom at the sake of "security", fictitious only because they are creating what Orwell "forebode"... the permanent war. While in these wars they can cloud our minds with the media propaganda so that they are free to do as they please. We must stop them somehow. So in the eternal words of System of a Down... Close your eyes, make a fist, and open your mouth.
