 CABIN Fever

When John McCook (Eric) wants to get away from the smog and traffic of Los Angeles, he and his family head to their rustic retreat in the mountain. „It’s a wonderful fishing area up in Sierras, but it’s also great for skiing in the winter-time,“ he explains. This summer, McCook could really use the R&R, since he spent much of the past year refurbishing the family cabin. Besides having a new roof and insulation installed, McCook decided to create more living space. „It’s a really simple little A-frame cabin, which we added on to so that we could have more room,“ he explains. „Now, we could take another family along, which we couldn’t do before because there was only one bathroom and not enough bedrooms. It’s almost double the size of what it was before.“ Of course, McCook doesn’t always need a roof over his head. Sometimes, he’ll opt to backpack to a remote lake and camp out on terra firma. „We’ll just sit for a couple of days and fish and throw rocks and stuff. It’s so quiet there and the stars are everywhere It’s just beautiful.“
