May
A young, blonde woman is standing on a balcony overlooking an azure blue ocean when a falling Kai breaks her concentration, landing heavily nearby. His drop from the Lexx doesn't seem to have affected him much though, being dead already, and he straightens himself out and approaches the beautiful blonde.

Meanwhile, Stan...who you may remember was about to be beheaded on Fire...is removed from the pumping machine at the last minute by the tongueless hook-headed captors. No doubt Prince realised his importance and he is reprieved...at least for now.

The room Kai has landed in is full of dead people. The blonde is the only one left alive in what looks like the aftermath of a violent battle with the ex-inhabitants all shot full of arrows. Kai's arrival interrupts the soulful melody she is playing on a small flute. "You play beautifully" he remarks, in the midst of the carnage. She seems in shock, telling Kai that it has been a "bad day". Kai tells May, as she introduces herself, about the Lexx and his search to find Xev: a "beautiful Love Slave".

Back on Fire, the reprieved Stanley is reunited with Xev. Although she is pleased to see him, she doesn't seem as overjoyed as I would if one of my best friends was to all intents and purposes "back from the dead". Stan is less than pleased to see Prince, however, and tries to explain what has happened to Xev. Prince tells Xev that he was "testing" Stan, which Xev seems happy to accept. It definitely seems as if Xev is falling under Prince's influence...

Kai meanwhile is busy with May. She was injured in the battle - a wound in her shoulder - which Kai is busy "examining". In my opinion he doesn't need to "examine" her that closely however! The wound seems minor but Kai feels the need to give it a really good check, just in case. Hmmmmm.

Xev is less than sympathetic to Stan's ordeal, especially when Prince tells him that he has shown great courage during his little "test"! He then goes on to tell Stan about the war between the two planets, explaining that the other people on the pumping machines are Prisoners of War from the other planet. "Enemies" as Xev calls them. Xev seems very ready to swallow Prince's story without even questioning his motives. Prince asks Stanley to help him destroy Water. Given the first impression Prince has made on Stan, he justifiably refuses!

A balloon, similar to the one in which Prince reached the Lexx, is approaching the city that Kai has landed in. It contains warriors from Fire - the ones who attacked May's city. Kai shouts to them for help in looking for Stan and Xev, but funnily enough they refuse. Firing his wrist brace, he launches himself into the air and onto the gondola suspended under the balloon and throws the occupants out into the ocean. Steadying the balloon he then fires his brace toward May, delicately catching her and delivering her safely into the baloon. After all, he used to like fishing...

Princes attempts at winning Stan over to his way of thinking, i.e. that Water should be destroyed right now, are failing miserably.

Kai navigates the balloon toward fire through a spiralling vortex where the two planets share an atmosphere. Once stablilised, they head down towards the arid surface and the city that Xev and Stan are "visiting". Seeing Prince, the one responsible for the attack on her city, May fires a crossbow bolt with deadly accuracy and hits Prince square in the chest. Xev is distraught and promises the dying Prince that she will try to help the fire planet after his death.

Alerted to the demise of their leader, guards storm the room, looking to blame Xev and Stan for the regicide. As Stan is about to be arrested however, Kai rescues them both and plops them on board the gondola. The little craft heads slowly back towards the vortex leading to Water. As they approach, the Lexx can be seen floating silently between the two planets. Kai fires a line and harpoons the Lexx, dragging the little balloon on board.

Having safely made it to the bridge, Xev greets a less than enthusiastic 790. "Be gone foul thing!" is his response. Given that his last few years have been totally dedicated to writing bad poetry about how wonderful Xev is, she is understandably a little confused by his reaction. Especially when she touches him and he responds with "AArgh! Slut Germs!" Suddenly however, all is revealed when Kai enters the bridge and 790 catches sight of him. Once 790 offers to swallow Kai's manhood, Xev realises that his affections now lie elsewhere! Kai, looking as embarassed as a dead man can, explains about 790's destruction and that he had to rebuild him. 790 has now imprinted on Kai in the way he was previously imprinted on Xev.

Whilst 790 burbles happily away about wanting to bounce on Kai's bun, the rest of the crew discuss whether they should blow up Fire after the bad treatment they've received there. Xev is against the plan, because it was Prince's planet, but Stan is all for it - the memory of his virtual decpitation still no doubt fresh in his mind. Plus, May is from Water, and Stan seems to be getting very close to May all of a sudden. Kai is not motivated to blow up any planets and doesn't understand why Stan is either.

Meanwhile, on the surface of the doomed, or not, Fire planet a ritual is in full swing. Prince's cronies are ceremonially lowering his dead body into a well of fire. But then what seems like a cremation becomes a re-animation when the body opens it's eyes...

Stanley is still keen on destroying Fire, especially as he finds out that Lexx has reserved enough energy to fire his weapon. The only problem with this is that Lexx can't move out of orbit, and therefore cannot aim at either one of the planets. Stan's concentration is broken by May however, who seems in great pain from the wound she sustained in the battle. Even though it was only a scratch...wimp. The crew take her to the Cryochamber where moments before a black-clad figure has kicked over the computer console that operates the pods before making a swift departure. Finding the console destroyed, Xev tries to work the protein regenerator to heal May's wound.

In the meantime, Kai heads towards the moth breeding chamber. If he can bring food to the Lexx from the Water planet, maybe they can get on their way again. Unbeknownst to the rest of the crew, the Lexx can breed new moths to replace the ones that have died and disintegrated over the last 4,000 years. Behind the membraneous walls of the chamber, dormant humanoid drones wait for the day new moths are required. Kai reactivates two drones, who were no doubt human once, long ago on the cluster, but are now grey automatons who's entire purpose is to breed moths. Another strange and unusual punishment for the heretical devised by His Shadow. "Breed Moths" commands Kai. And they do.

The protein regenerator is well past it's warranty period. About 4,000 years past it in fact, so it should be little surprise to the crew when it falls to pieces. Kai, returning from the moth chamber, fails to fix it and the sickly looking May takes another turn for the worse. Stan is distraught that his new-found friend is going to be taken from him so soon, and is infuriated even further when Xev tells him that in her opinion May deserves to die for killing Prince. As they argue furiously, and 790 still fails to repair the protein unit, May slips away into death. Stan is highly upset and Xev apologises for her comments, understanding that Stan feels as bad as she did when Prince was killed. Stan takes a few moments alone with May's body to say goodbye. As the others leave, Stan grieves until he hears a soft voice...May's voice...saying "I would have liked you Stanley, I would have..." And suddenly Prince is standing there, looking over May's body and asking Stan, "Do you want her to be alive? And yours?"

Prince offers a deal to the shocked Stan. He will resurrect May so that they can be together, but Stan has to do him a favour too. Stan has to blow up Water. Much as he wants May, he cannot justify detroying an entire planet to save just one girl, and he tells Prince this. Prince seems to think that this is a "good decision". Relieved, Stan asks whether May will be returned to him. Shaking his head, Prince disappoints him; "No, no, May will stay as she is. She will remain dead..." And then he leaves. Stan desperately calls out after him, changing his mind. "Prince, I agree! I'll use the Lexx to blow up Water is May can live...!" As he stares after the absent Prince, May's eyes open and she calls out to Stan. Delighted, he embraces her passionately and they kiss. But is his deal with Prince now on? Will he have to destroy Water to save his love? Tune in next week...
