Zev is not a happy bunny. She sits in her bedchamber, pining for Kai, singing the
song of the Brunnen-G. The last thing she needs, therefore, is Stan bursting in
and singing "You need a man, a red hot loving Stan!" at her. She needs 790 even
less "Pick me! I've got the techonologee, for thee, sweet pea...!" Zev leaves.
"Where are you going?" demands Stan. "To wake Kai", she replies. Despite Stan's
protestations that she can't go round waking him up every 5 minutes or he'll
run out of protoblood, she heads for the Cryochamber. "I know how to operate it" Zev complains, but Stan insists on opening Kai's pod himself. "Not that way!" shouts 790 as the control panel sparks and the pod begins to open. "I kill you in the name of His Divine Shadow" says Kai, and fires... Stan, shocked, looks down to see Kai's brace embedded in his chest. Kai looks at Stan, realising what he has done. "We must freeze him!" he exclaims, catching Stan and placing him in stasis. "Give me the key Stan!" commands Zev, but Stan is losing it, so Zev kisses him. This has the desired effect, and Stan passes the key to Zev as he passes peacefully into a coma. "It wasn't your fault Kai," reasons Zev, "Stan woke you up wrong!" Kai looks unconvinced. 790 is scanning the region for a Medical Satellite, and soon locates MedSat not too far away. Unfortunately for the crew, they have no money and no insurance and the snotty woman on the screen will not let Stan on board until they have something to pay with. Zev offers her a little demonstration of Lexx's power on a small moon, and suddenly they are allowed to dock. The medical team operate on Stanley, and it is a complete success. His heart is regenerated and he is left to recover from the operation with Kai on guard, while Zev is invited to dinner by one of the doctors. Like most men, he is only after one thing. In this case, however, it is the Lexx. Drugging Zev and freezing Kai, the trio of unscrupulous medics set about trying to get Zev to give up the key to the Lexx. This involves torture, of course, and poor Zev is taken to the edge of death until the key starts to come free from her hand. What the doctors didn't bargain on, however, is her Cluster Lizard DNA. DNA is a funny thing, all that dominant and recessive stuff, and you never know when it's going to kick in. About now in fact, and Zev metamorphosises into a bona fide Cluster Lizard, right there and then... In the meantime, the frozen Kai is being set up as the target for some sort of quantum accelerator, the doctors reckoning that pulverising his atoms is probably the only way to stop him regenerating. They would have been pleased that they were right, but they never got to see the outcome as they get eaten by Cluster-Lizard-transformed Zev first. Flinging herself at the quantum chamber, she knocks Kai out of the way of the beam but gets caught in it herself. Zev gets obliterated into a small pile of goo... ...790 mourns... ...Stan mourns... ...Kai scoops up the goo and takes it back to the ship... And although Stan wants to blow up the Medsat when he gets back to the Lexx, he doesn't. After all, all the evil doctors where killed anyway so what would it prove? As the Lexx pulls away from the station, however, it is clear that some are not so scrupulous as Stanley. A little cloud of mechanical arms fall upon the station and rip it apart... |
